Android Nougat Update Tracker

NougatUpdateTracker.png

Hello Community!

With Android Nougat rolling out to many AT&T devices, we wanted to create a one-stop shop for all of your Nougat needs. This thread will show you which devices the update has been released for, and will provide any and all information we have on upcomming software updates, troubleshooting tips, and general discussion.

Community participation is very important to us, and we want to hear your thoughts and feedback. Let us know which devices you think should be next on our upgrade list, your experience with Nougat so far, and anything else that you want to share!

Thank you,

Kevin, AT&T Community Specialist

If you're not an AT&T customer you will not get updates since you are not connected to the AT&T network. AT&T is checking the IMEI of the phone through the cell network before telling the device to update. Here is a list of phone OEM's and if there is a work around...

(For those in the USA, if you have a friend that has AT&T service, put their SIM card in the phone and it will update).

Also keep in mind the us carriers are releasing 7.0 NOT 7.1.1 for there phones.  Also google is testing 7.1.2 for release to the pixel line and nexus line.

SAMSUNG

At the moment there is no work around for updating a samsung device. There are no updates on SmartSwitch to flash the Nougat update.   The S7 series, Note 5 and Note 7 there are no work arounds as the bootloaders still are locked down tight.  There are leaked versions of the updates on the web you will have to search for since they can’t be posted here.

If you are in the USA you can take your phone to a Samsung Experience Center inside a best buy and have them flash it for you.

Samsung phones with Nougat include

S7, s7 active and s7 edge

S6, s6 active and s6 edge  Pending release in q2

S5, s5 active  Not getting nougat

Note 7  It blew up no updates

Note 5 pending release in q2

The Note 4 will not get nougat

LG

LG has not posted the Nougat updates for download anywhere on there site. There are work arounds for this phone just google it.

LG Phones with Nougat

G5, V20

LG v10 will see nougat sometime in q2 according to LG

G4 will see nougat in q3 according to LG twitter account.

The LG G Flex 2 is confirmed by LG to be staying on Lollipop

HTC

Out of all the OEM's HTC has done it right.

This page has all the updates that are available.http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html

Follow the instructions for the specific phone and you will be good to go.

HTC Devices getting nougat include

HTC M9 and A9 these are pending

ATT passed on the HTC 10 but it can be purchased thru HTC unlocked(http://www.htc.com/us/go/buy-htc-10/)

MOTOROLA

With the exception of the Nexus 6 (firmware here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images) There are no posted update files on the moto website.

The N6 is running nougat and a user can flash 7.1.1 if they wish.

Moto no longer sells phones thru the carriers so you have to buy direct or at Best Buy.

BLACKBERRY

The priv does have a auto loader that can be found here http://global.blackberry.com/en/support/smartphones/blackberry-PRIV/reload.html

Remember it will wipe your phone!

I hope this guide helps some of you know where you stand with your phones.

I do NOT like the update. It is draining my battery unbelievably fast. Even though I have changed the settings, it still only vibrates when I get texts, e-mails, etc. There are many more reasons why I do not like it, but this is a start.

Clear your system cache first.  IF that dont work factory reset.  I manually updated mine and the wifes s7 actives last night and they work like a charm but there fresh installs.

Wipe cache partition

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
  4. When the Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight 'wipe cache partition'.
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight 'yes' an press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

This isn't AT&T's fault, like every other carrier they have been waiting for LG to release the Nougat update. LG had previously stated that they weren't even going to update the V10 to Nougat but after a considerable amount of customer backlash, LG reconsidered and announced that it would be rolling out Nougat for the V10 to carriers around Q2 (April, May, June) of this year. This announcement was literally made just four days ago (3-4-17). Once AT&T gets it, they have to add all the usual bloatware and and whatever else before they push the update to us which will probably take a month or so. So you're just gonna have to be patient for what I'm guessing will be another 2-3 months.

you wont see it on a us carrier tell well after the sales of the G6 have dipped.  LG is a sorry excuse for a OEM really.

I have S7 and still no update for me. My wife's phone received the update 2 weeks ago, but mine still says "Current software is up to date". Are you still rolling out the S7 updates?
