Why do I need an alarm permit? What happens if I do not get the required permit?

Some municipalities require residents to register their alarm systems for use with police department dispatch to reduce false alarm fees. In the event of an emergency, the responding emergency agency may require the alarm permit number prior to dispatching the police/emergency responders.

If the AT&T Digital Life monitoring center is unable to provide this information to the agency, the emergency agency may refuse to dispatch. There are also some jurisdictions that charge additional fees or fines if there is not a valid permit on the account when making a request for emergency response.
