Xiaomi phone incompatibility

Hello

I am a french student looking for a wireless plan for a 6 month internship in the US coming up soon. I came across the Value Plus plan that meets my needs but when I tried the bring your own device option it told me my phone (Xiaomi Redmi 11) is not compatible with the AT&T network. I have done some research and it seems like my phone is not compatible with eSIM but would work with a physical SIM.

Am I missing something or is that right ?
Can I buy this plan, bring my device and get a physical sim ?

No, that device is not compatible regardless of whether you use a physical sim or esim.

Ok...
Do you know why ? Could it be compatible with some other company's network ?

Yes, ATT only allows devices that have been certified by the manufacturer on their network and Xiaomi has not certified any devices. I do not know if it will work on any other US carrier.
