Windows 10 upgrade for Lumia 640XL

When is the Windows 10 upgrade review going to be ready for the Lumia 640 XL?

Hi there @markt381!

 

We actually just released the Windows 10 update for the 640XL!

 

You do have to opt-in to this update however by installing the Windows Upgrade Advisor Application and checking “Enable”.

 

After that it should be downloadable by going to Settings > Phone Update > Check for Update. (The update can only be performed via Wi-Fi)

Do you have any back up locations they may be stored in?

 

Some possible locations could be our AT&T Address book or the phone’s OneDrive/Microsoft account.

I JUST GOT LUMIA 640XL ON FRIDAY NOV 4TH JUST CAME OVER TO AT&T GOPHONE NO COTRACTS JUST DOWNLOAD THE WINDOWS 10 UPGADE WINDOWS ADVISOR TO UPDATE MY LUMIA 649XL TO WINDOWS PHONE TRY IT

I tried to do the upgrade, but the Upgrade Advisor just continued to say that Microsoft and AT&T would soon notify me of the upgrade and did not present a ENABLE switch. I deleted and reloaded Upgrade Advisor without any change.

When you wish to upgrade your software, I can understand the concern you must feel in getting this resolved! I will be happy to assist you further!

 

Keep in mind, the system requirements for downloading and using the Upgrade Advisor are Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you're running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor inside Virtual PC or Remote Desktop, Windows Aero capability might not be detected properly.

 

Also, do not forget we also offer our helpful Device Support tool for additional assistance to update your software. You need to be connected to our network, and also have a capable Wi-Fi connection. Select your make and model phone, click on View all Solutions > System & Storage.

@denisw My suggestion... Join the Windows Insider Program and jump on the Preview Ring. That'll put you on stable versions of Windows 10 Mobile. First, make sure you have a backup of your phone; then I'd copy all pictures and video off the device. Then go into the store from your phone and find the Windows Insider app and Install it. Preview Ring will be the solid tested, monthly updates released for Windows 10 Mobile. Slow and Fast rings will be beta version of the latest Windows 10 Mobile.
