It works on AT&T 4Ge similar to my BlackBerry Passport. I anticipate no issues when 3G goes away.

I waited over a year for the Key3 but gave in with BlackBerry going away this August. My Passport was great, keys excellent w/o music player I thought to be unmatched. The Key2 with 3weeks under my belt is Superior in all areas w/ full android access to Google Store.

It won't work on att after 3g is shutdown.  That phone is not volte compliant.  Which meana it needs the 3g network for voice.

You will notice the key2 is absent from this list

For what it's worth (9 months later), the new BlackBerry Key3 5G is expected to be released somtime between June-August 2021.  I'm waiting for it anxiously.

They said they it would be out on 2020 also.  I will believe it when I see it.  And I doubt it will work on att.

@Glimmerman76:  Didn't know that but I hope you're wrong.  Why do you doubt it'll work on ATT?

Because the key 2 can't be activated on att now and will no longer work on att in Jan 2022 and may not work in some markets now.

The Key2 isn't on my list either, but the Key1 is.  https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/wireless/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf

Do you have a Blackberry?  I don't even own a smartphone and really don't want one but I want a real keyboard like BB as I Text a fair amount.

My current 'basic' phone is a Z432 (has full qwerty keyboard) which was a perfect step up from a flip phone. But it won't work once the 5G conversion completes in Feb '22.

Just spoke with AT&T technical support.  The list of devices is NOT all inclusive.  The technical support person said ANY DEVICE that has the ability to connect via 4G will work on the new 5G network.  I currently have a Blackberry Classic that displays "LTE" service but was told that I am connecting on the 3G frequencies with the Classic.  However, both the Blackberry Keyone and Key2 support 4G connectivity and so they should work on the 5G network come February 2022.  I am only repeating what AT&T technical support told me so if someone has an issue with it, take it up with AT&T.

@ColumbusLarry

Who ever you spoke with is an ID! 0t

The blackberry classic will cease to work no later than Feb 2022, when 3g shuts down.  Next time you are on a phone call look at the notification bar. You will see it is dropped to an H or an H+.  That indicates you are using AT&T 3-g Network.

Just spoke with AT&T technical support.  The list of devices is NOT all inclusive.  The technical support person said ANY DEVICE that has the ability to connect via 4G will work on the new 5G network.

Really?  And just how is a phone without the hardware for 5g, going to work on 5g network?  The BlackBerry Classic is a fairly old phone.  It will not work on AT&T when 3g shuts down.

I currently have a Blackberry Classic that displays "LTE" service but was told that I am connecting on the 3G frequencies with the Classic.

See above.

However, both the Blackberry Keyone and Key2 support 4G connectivity and so they should work on the 5G network come February 2022.

🤦🏼‍♀️. Again neither phone has the hardware for 5G. Both are older phones and neither have voice over LTE capability or AT&T HD voice service.  They will stop working when 3g shuts down.

I am only repeating what AT&T technical support told me so if someone has an issue with it, take it up with AT&T.

AT&T has corporate wide documents that say the person you spoke with has no clue and is wrong, so I'm not taking one person's word and neither should you.

Blackberry has no phones on the VoLTE list, don't buy one and expect it to work.

@GLIMMERMAN76  who hires these 🤡🤡 and then sets them loose on unsuspecting customers without a muzzle?

You are wrong.  Here is a corporate document for you.  It is dated April 6, 2021.  It clearly says the Blackberry Keyone will work.  Below is a screenshot of the relative page.  The link to the document is at the bottom of the post.  AT&T is NOT shutting down 4G service but only 3G.

I never said my Blackberry Classic will work next February.  I said my phone works now because it connects via 3G.  The display says "LTE" because LTE service is available in my area.  I know my phone does not connect via 4G/LTE.  FWIW, when I am on the phone, it says I am connected via 4G, not H+ or H.

AT&T is NOT shutting down 4G service but only 3G.

Not true, unless you are classifying LTE as 4G. Unfortunately, everyone seems to have a different definition of 4G but what ATT calls 4G is really 3G and yes, they are shutting it down.
