When are the new Windows 10 phones being released?

Since Windows 10 will be available free to all consumers who legally own Windows 7 and 8/8.1 by the end of July, when will the new Windows 10 cell phones be available with Continuum? Current owners of a Windows 8.1 phone can upgrade, but it will not support all the new features of Windows 10 including Continuum, so I want to wait so I do not have to buy a phone twice, obviously.

Hi there! @erniemink thanks for posting your question.

At this time we do not have any release dates on Windows 10 phones. Please feel free to visit us regularly on our shop site at www.att.com/shop/ for our newest devices.

Thanks!

From what I understand, Microsoft will be releasing the PC version of Windows 10 in late July, but they have not committed to the mobile or phone versions of Windows 10 yet.  From sources I've heard, the phone release may be months behind the PC release for Windows 10.

There I will not update my phone until I see the point of upgrading. If you go from 8.1 to 10 but the phone will not support new features, then there is no reason to upgrade. This is where companies need to not do one without doing the other at the same time. It is really that simple.

its also has to do with market share and the fact that windows phones only command 3.7% of all phones sold in the USA.  OEMS are not going to build phones that dont sell.  Nokia aka microsoft has been mum when it comes to phone plans for windows 10 which is sad really.  There is no hype.  I dont see HTC doing a windows m9.

I hear this market share crap over and over, and unless you release the
phones on every version properly, you will have worse market share. In fact
it is much more than 3.7 percent. Many are turning their Apple and Android
phones away and choosing Microsoft for good reason. If you go on things
like market share and money only, then you will lose out and it will be
worse. Plus it will be selfish to hurt customers who want them, which
is much higher than you and many realize. The Zune was actually the best
portable music player, but if you make the same mistakes and halt release
and production over Apply hype and fright, then this is why the Zune was
not produced anymore. I still own and use one, and love it.

the zune failed because apple is better at music thats a fact.  and I have a 30gb zune myself.  The surface 1 was a flop.  The surface pro 3 they finally got it on track.  Microsofts device track record is horible.

Now on your windows market share have a read of this

or this

They have to sell cheap handsets for a reason.  The 3% here in the us will pay for a highend windows handset the rest need some wow factor to make them look at it.

The carriers dont push windows phone Verizon was a prime example.  The lumia ICON was a nice looking phone and they just let it die into the sunset without even a tv spot.

The Zune did not fail because Apple is better. Apple iTunes has flaws. I
fully tested both. They also charge a dollar per song, and you can pay one
monthly flat rate or per year and get unlimited music library to the Zune
or Windows phone. The WMA format is better than AAC even on paper, and that
is proven. I have the Zune 120, and it still works. I know people who have
or had Apple products, and they failed, some are just too simple or watered
down. And if I can get unlimited music on the Xbox/Zune, why go with paying
per song? That is the point. Microsoft just does everything BETTER. Apple
and Linux has never beat them. I have fully tested and tried them all. I
will never go to anything other than Microsoft. Google is horrible too and
the big brother invasion is annoying with Google. This is not a debate. I
have built the Windows PC and bought their products for years since Windows
3.1. Bill Gates was right. He got it. Yes the Surface 3 is the best. And it
is better than anything other companies put out. I still prefer self-built
desktops for obvious reasons. Good luck. I am not returning to this post. I
also read the articles. They are still wrong. They have more market share
or they could not be in business. 3.7 percent is not enough.
