Voice Mail Number Has Not Been Set

I have a new pre-paid account with an Alcatel SMARTFLIP phone. All instructions related to setting up voicemail indicate that I'm supposed to press and hold the 1 button to access voicemail. However, when I do this I get an error message on the phone that states, "Voice mail number has not been set." How do I fix this issue so I can set up my voicemail?

Hi @NewUser185,

Thanks for clarifying.

Just so we know, is this the first time you're setting up your voicemail? If it isn't, please let us know. It sounds like you need to have your voicemail reset so that you can properly set it up. You can dial 611 from your device to contact us directly, so that can be taken care of.

Thank you!

This does not help. Following the troubleshooting steps still gives me this instruction "From your wireless phone, press and hold 1 or the Voicemail key." This does not work on my phone. Pressing and holding 1 (the voicemail key) does not call the voicemail system. Instead it gives me the error message on the screen stating "Voice mail number has not been set."

It took multiple calls to 611 to get someone who could get it corrected, but that was the solution.
