My neighbor gave me her phone, locked to AT&T. Phone is locked but paid off 4 years ago. My request and the owner of the phone requests continually get denied. I took the phone into ATT shop and they tried. Still denied. Why? So frustrating.

Any reason why it is denied?
Maybe the phone is obsolete and ATT doesn't maintain unlock information on it anymore?
Maybe the phone isn't compatible with ATT anymore?

AT&T guy at store said he didn’t know why and phone is compatible. It was a business account but closed and paid off. Only thing I can figure out. It did say the IEMI number was wrong but it definitely is not.

I've seen a similar posting recently where the phone was supposed to be paid off. ATT reps thought it was. Then they found an old $13 balance on the old account. Or some other account/database glitch.
