Unlock Nighthawk M1

I have received an unlock code from ATT to unlock my Nighthawk mobile router (hotspot)

Instructions say to use "non ATT" sim card. I did using a friends Verizon sim card.

Unlock did not work following instructions provided.

ATT customer support says the verizon sim card used has to recognize the IMEI of my Nighthawk.

What does that mean and how do I accomplish this?

Thanks all

Hi there, @Hawgjo! Here is what you need to know when trying to unlock your hotspot router.

First, if the Verizon SIM card you used is already active on another device, then you will want to try inserting a new and unused non-AT&T SIM card into your device. That is why the SIM card is unable to recognize the IMEI of your Netgear Nighthawk router.

Also, make sure that you're using the correct type of SIM in your router when trying to unlock it, and be sure to apply the device unlock instructions carefully and as they're presented.

You will want to avoid entering the incorrect entry of an unlock code too many times. Otherwise, this action can disable the unlock ability and permanently locks the device to the network. The number of attempts to unlock the device varies by manufacturer and model.

Give this a try and let us know how this goes. Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums.
