unlock code

I requested device unlock code twice. But it was denied.

Att customer care team said :
'We cannot complete your unlock request for one of the following reasons:
1.This device is no longer actively supported
2.There is no unlock code available for this device'

device model is blackberry q10

How can I do to get the phone unlocked?

Hello @ses1343

I’m very sorry to hear you were unable to unlock your BlackBerry.

It appears that the email you received from the unlock team is correct.
This particular model is no longer eligible to be unlocked.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Should you have any additional questions or concerns, we’d be happy to help.

 Thank you!

What does it mean "not eligible".  Why not ?

@at_tbberry  Once a manufacturer abandons support for a product, it dumps the unlock codes.  If the manufacturer does not have the codes, ATT can't get them.

The amazon fire phone, for example, was abandoned before all customers paid it off and cannot be unlocked.   Original iPhones can't be unlocked.
