Unite 781S

Trying to get update from 57 to 75. This device reboots all by itself, over and over. Sometimes it will stay on for a while. Have tried factory reset many times and check for updates many times. Says no update available or software is up to date and sometimes it will say error checking for update. Also why is it that I can hold down power button with no battery installed hooked up to pc usb cable and it will go to screen saying downloading software update, but does not install. This is the only way I have at least gotten it to say that. Nothing else works. have tried this with sim card installed and not installed. Hooked up to pc or not hooked up to pc. I just want this device to update and stop power cycling all the time.

Hello @mjmplus

We'd love to help you update your device! In order for you to update your device, we ask that you visit our Unite Pro Support page. Once there, you can check out the software updates page. This page specifically has details in regards to updating the operating system. This page will go through multiple steps you can take to ensure your device updates.

Additionally, you can also verify your update as well. From the home screen, tap: Settings > About Device > Device Information > scroll down to Firmware and Firmware Build Date. Usually, you should see "No update is available for your device at this time" displayed. Since you are still trying to update your device, you should be seeing this, as supposed to "the software is up to date". Follow the steps on the page to complete the process. Please let us know whether this works or not.

That is the page i used to find this forum. Been there done all of that. Like I said it either says there is no update or error while checking for update. This is the version on device now NTG9X25C_01.00.57.00 trying to get to NTG9X25C_01.00.75.00 or any update at all. No signs of damage to device and no water damage. Just started doing this one day.

Hey there!

You may want to disable your PC's Firewall before updating your device's firmware.

We hope this information helps

Truck driver solution:  paper folded a bit larger than the sim, then lay it on top of the sim card, then put the battery back in, and close the cover(must be tight).  it's a design flaws; metal sim holder should covered entire sim card...not just the center, when in operation the unit gets hot, I suspect the sim card bend a little from the heat.....causing sim metal contact to be unstable.

This was happening to mine as well. Mine was stuck at FW v.57 and would never update to the .75 that it says it should be at. AT&T CSR tried sending a manual update to it, but it would just say "Update error" and never update. It used to work just fine, but noticed in certain areas that it reboots every 10-15 minutes.

Called AT&T again and they are sending me a Nighthawk hotspot as a courtesy since I've been a long-time customer.

My wild-(Edited per community guidelines)-guess is that this unit is older, AT&T have updated their over air systems and something is freaking this unit out now. Maybe it still works in some areas okay, and some not so okay.

Wanted other to know that you weren't the only one, and what their resolution was. I'm curious to know if the .75 FW would have fixed it, but I will never know. Sounds like mjmplus had the same issue.
