TRADE IN SCAM

I would like to start a petition of anybody who's been mislead or downright lied to and scammed out of their devices and have an outrageous bill from att when they were promised otherwise. I just got of of a chat with a sales supervisor and he was downright rude and unhelpful. Lies on top of lies. These people are predatory. My email is [email scrubbed]. we need to start a (Edited per community guidelines) against this company who thinks they can defraud people and get away with it. I've read enough of everybody's complaints to know that a lot of people have bee mislead and robbed of their phones.

Did this transaction happen in a store like Costco or Walmart or in an ATT store?

People selling phones inside of Walmart or Sam’s or Costco are NOT AT&T employees but either contracted workers (SmartCircle) or store employees.  Unfortunately they have a reputation for making promises that AT&T will not honor.

You can file a BBB complaint but be aware that you will not be dealing with AT&T but with a third party.  🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

ETA:  All deals are posted online at ATT.com and those are the only deals that ATT will stand behind.

@DavidWalther  Carefully read the response from @skeeterintexas . There are also Authorized AT&T Retail Stores that operate the same way. They are all independents, totally separate from AT&T. They just resell AT&T goods and services and then pass the information along to AT&T who has no clue as to what was said and/or promised to the customer. AT&T has no control over their business practices. As suggested, file the online BBB complaint because that will get forwarded to AT&T Upper Management and someone will contact you. Just keep in mind that you did business with an independent reseller, not AT&T so there's no guarantee what AT&T can do.

What did the receipt say and did you read the TOS?

That's some serious (Edited per community guidelines). They are branded sales people, that's a slimy way to get away with stuff. I didn't read the TOS I don't even know what that is. I figured if they are wearing at&t shirts and are at an at&t podium and have access to att software and sales programs that they are employed by att, why wouldn't I? What a joke.

Don’t let the shirt fool you.

I worked in a Starbucks kiosk inside of a major retailer.  I wore the green apron.  I knew how to make the drinks.  I even wore the “Certified Barista” pin but I did not work for Starbucks.  I worked for the retailer.

@DavidWalther  TOS is Terms of Service. It explains in detail what is expected of AT&T and the customer as well as the particulars of the promo. You should always carefully read the receipt you are given and the TOS. If the TOS is not given to you then you can always read it on AT&T's website which lists all deals and promos in detail, and that is the only deals and promos that AT&T will honor, regardless of what an independent retailer told you.

These independents have long term contracts with AT&T that I certainly hope AT&T does not renew without some serious changes and oversight. Filing the online BBB complaint is your best approach to speaking directly with someone from AT&T Upper Management about this.
