Temporary Deactivation for a limited time

Is it possible to deactivate an AT&T hot spot device (Turbo 2) for a 12 month period, then reactivate the device without losing the assigned "Phone" number? I am going out of the country for a year and won't need my device for that period

Hello @Mia Hughes, we're happy to provide you the options for temporarily deactivating your Hotspot device.

Service can remain suspend for 6 months (180 days). If postpaid, you can suspend your line but that does not stop you from being billed. If you have prepaid service, you can just stop renewing your plan but you risk having your account closed. If your prepaid account has a $0 balance for more than 60 days, your account is closed and number lost.

To suspend your line follow these steps:

  1. Go to att.com/suspend.
  2. Choose a reason and select Suspend.

It's easy to reactivate service once you return.

  1. Go to att.com/suspend.
  2. Select Reactivate next to the suspended device.
  3. Follow the prompts to reactivate it.

Visit our help page for additional FAQ's when you Suspend your wireless service. We're here if you have any questions. Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

You can have a hot spot device inactive for eleven out of twelve months a year.

The information provided by a t t help is true for postpaid plans and prepaid phone plans. It is not true for prepaid data only plans for tablet or hotspots
