Static Ip in MF279

Recently purchased an MF279 wireless internet box. It appears that the ip address of the box changes and is not static. Is there a way to have it static so I can access security cameras through port forwarding?

Hi @Boomologist,

I am sorry you are having issues with your ip address. I am more than pleased to check into this for you!

I completely understand the need for a static ip address for your security cameras.  I am going to move this to private message so I can best assist with the issue. Please keep an eye out for it as it will show on the upper right corner of the screen.

Have a great rest of your day!

Curious if this has been resolved.  I have the z700a considering updating to the mf279. I just ordered a security system that I won't necessarily need to use IP cameras, but I do want to access the DVR remotely away from home.  This is my first system and I've got a good idea how to set it up on a normal network connection,  just seeing people having some issues port forwarding. No other internet options where I live,  I sure hope this works.

I've used a service from DynDns to update my external addresses on other internet connected routers. Unfortunately it's an application that runs on a PC to monitor changes and update your personal URL.  If all you have is a video system, it won't support a DNS service application like that.

I'm more curious if they were able to get the port forwarding working.  Static or not, using various tools to validate port forwarding that also provides what the external IP address is, I could not get the MF279 to forward any port to any system from the outside.
