Sim Unlocking a device, "active on the owner's account"

I went to a pawn shop and bought a Lenovo tablet (not blacklisted). I am not an AT&T customer, and it wasn't until later that I noticed that the tablet wasn't sim unlocked. I submitted an unlock request through the AT&T app, only to learn that the tablet still listed as active under the owner's account. I have to leave the US tomorrow. Is there any way I can unlock my tablet?

Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do. The original owner would have had to unlock the tablet before selling it. We apologize for the inconvenience.
