Phone Calling Issue With LG Velvet 5G (Model LMG900UM1 / AT&T Variant Phone

Hi,

I've got an issue with my recently purchased phone, for the past couple of day's I can't make or receive phone calls but seemingly I'm still able to send & receive text messages. I think that fact bothers me the most about this issue, unless I'm mistaken, I believe that both of these services use the mobile data connection. When I attempt to place a phone call all I'm seeing/hearing is a brief popup screen that shows the number I was trying to call & the message "Call Ended' before the call even gets actually dialed. I've never had this kind of issue before. I contacted my mobile data provider (Red Pocket Mobile) about this issue & was informed everything looks good on their end. I spoke with a technical support agent & he asked me to install my gsma sim card back into mu previous phone (LG V30) & see if I could make & receive calls, I was able to do so without any issues. Early this morning I decided to perform a factory reset on my new phone to see if that would correct the calling issue, unfortunately it didn't. At this point I really don't know what to do next, all I know is the fact that I'm totally frustrated that I'm unable to use the calling function properly. Thank goodness that quite a while ago I decided to grab a google voice #, so at least I have a backup calling feature. Has anyone else ran into a similar issue, & if so, how did you correct it? Since I've had my new phone, I've been receiving software updates from at&t, could one of those updates caused my current issue? Just for reference, my current software versions are, Android Version 11 / Software Version G900UM2o. Thanks in advance for any help & suggestions that might be provided.

As a Red Pocket customer, you have to contact them.

You indicated yesterday the phone was working in the last post.

Is very likely the lack of software updates are the problem. Continue to do the updates on the phone and cross your fingers that calling is returned.

LG is out of the mobile phone business. If that phone is eligible for unlocking, start the process now. At some point LG will not have unlock codes available anymore.

Hi,

I actually thought at one point that my new lg velvet 5g phone was functioning properly, but I guess by accident I couldn't make or receive calls, but I can send & receive text messages. Also, I noticed that I can't enable wifi calling nor do I see any kind of setting for the HD Voice service. To be quite honest, red pocket mobile is like a lot of other technology companies as far as having trained technical people available that can actually provide 'genuine' answers & information.

Thanks,

David

Hi Everyone,

I've got some good news to report, a couple of days ago I decided to switch my mobile data provider, now I'm a at&t prepaid wireless unlimited customer. I'm happy to be able to report that now my phone is functioning properly, it's so nice to be able to have the use of my calling features again. It's looking like I should have made the switch to at&t wireless sooner than I did.

David 👍😁
