Neither AT&T nor Motorola will sell me a customized Moto X 2nd Generation Phone

Well, they will sell me one in the store, but the Motomaker site that Motorola has won't accept the credit card info to create a custom one.

There are seemingly no other methods available through AT&T to purchase a phone through Motomaker and have it customized.

Verizon offers a Motomaker SIM card for 2nd Gen, which can be purchased at their store, and AT&T offered this for the first gen Moto X, but nobody in customer service or at the store has any answers for me.

I opened a ticket with Motorola four days ago on the credit card issue, and since then they have been very responsive, but unable to make it work. Last night I spent two and a half hours on the phone with them. They have felt bad enough about the experience they are sending me an accessory for my trouble. Eventually, I might get a phone to go with the accessory.

Their suggestion is to go to the AT&T store and purchase the Motomaker card. Unfortunately, no one at the Corporate store knows anything about this, nor does anyone on the Customer Service phone line. I've called both several times, just in case I wasn't talking to the right person.

HELP

I want one of these phones, and I don't want one of the stock phones (White/Bamboo or Black/Black) that are available in the store.

What does a customer of a decade and a half have to do to get a custom Moto X?

After writing the above, I read in another thread someone reporting getting a Motomaker card for a 2nd Gen at an AT&T company store. After calling the nearest store, and being told that Yes, they did have the card, I drove there after work.

After putting my name on the list, then waiting an hour for my turn, the guy who calls my name turns out to be the same one I spoke with on the phone. And, he was mistaken. They only have Motomaker cards for the 1st Gen Moto X, none for 2nd Gen.

Man, what a let-down. I was ready to finally be able to place my order. I don't get it. Aren't these cards essentially like gift cards? Load them with the appropirate amount, report to the mothership, rub off the number to prove you have the loaded card when you cash it in. But, these are seemingly coded to only work with purchasing version 1 of the phone.

The guy said he thought the custom version of the Gen2, and Motomaker cards might be available in a few weeks, but couldn't say for sure.

Any AT&T employees able to share anything about when Gen 2 Motomaker cards may be had, or, some other method (AT&T gift card, etc.) that could be used to purchase the phone on the Motomaker site? (when the site won't process a Visa card)
