Thank you for sharing those details, Dmcshaw61. Here's what you can do to resolve your current experience with latency on your mobile Hotspot.
First, make sure there aren't too many devices connected to your Nighthawk MR6110 since the more devices connected to your Hotspot will cause speeds to drop. Each device shares a portion of the inbound signal.
When you stream, game or download, your speeds drop further, so reduce the number of connected devices or even turn off those connected devices that aren't in use.
You'll find these and other helpful tips including factors that you will want to consider like "Are the device around your HotSpot an issue?" and "Is your home or office causing issues?" at Mobile HotSpot Low/ Weak Signal - Solutions from the AT&T Community Team. One of the recommendations provided in the Community Forums support article above include elevating or placing your Hotspot near a window to improve LTE signal reception.
Also, you may get better results by switching the frequency on your device. The 5GHz frequency provides a strong signal in local areas.
Test different bands and ranges to determine what works best for you. It's possible to find exact details including important information about frequency usage beginning on page 30 of the Nighthawk M6 manual.
Try this and let us know how it goes. We don't want anything slowing you down while you're gaming.

So... why don't you use the IWFA=40? While newer, 5G is not necessarily better than 4G. Until the 5G capacity fully overtakes the 4G/LTE capacity, you may often find 4G just "works better."

Thanks for your response. The ifwa-40 is capped at 100 gb data, while the mr6110 is unlimited data.

Ah... I can see why that would be attractive.

Hello, @Dmcshaw61. Thank you for reaching out to us about the latency on your Netgear Nighthawk while using your PS5.
You may want to try to reset your Netgear Nighthawk.
Are you experiencing this lag on any other devices? This will help us determine if it is just the PS5 or other devices. It seems there has been talk about the PS5 having lag issues, but we want to make sure it isnt the connection to your Netgear Nighthawk first.
Have you tried to run an internet speed test on a device connected to you Netgear Nighthawk? This will determine the speeds the device is giving.
Let us know, if this information helps!

Thanks for your reply.
I restart the nighthawk daily.
I have ran speed tests on a daily basis. The results are inconsistent, some times I get 40 mbps down and 5 mbps up others are 2 mbps down and 2 mbps up.
I also have ATT IWFA_40 that is 4g LTE. I use it on the playstation and the latency/ping is not as bad as the Nighthawk. It has lag spikes but is more consistent with about 100 ms ping.
It may have more to do with the tower I and connecting to, as some days are better than others. I have a weboost and the signal shows to have full bars. I am at a loss because this is the only option available at my location

It is more of a distance to tower problem. Some times it work ok with moderate latency, other times it is unplayable!

Lets so how we can help improve your gaming experience Dmcshaw61
We understand how important gaming is, as a source of entertainment. Let's meet in a Direct Message so that I can gather some information from you and check the towers in your area. You will find a chat icon next to a bell icon at the top of the page. Our next message will appear there.
In the meantime we found a great article that will help in determining what is going on with your high-ping and latency concern. Please use the Trouble Gaming & High Ping - Help from the AT&T Community article. That article will give you some great tips and tricks as well as a variety of resources to help you improve your gaming experience. Pay close attention to the "What you can do" section of that article.
We look forward to assisting you.
