mobile network state disconnected?

I have no data connection on my note 3. I can make calls and text but no data. When I look in settings it says mobile network state disconnected. I just upgraded to this phone and I've only had it two days. I did the software update this morning. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with this. I've been on wifi since i got the phone and only just noticed the data problem this morning. What do I do?

Go to Settings/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names.

See if you have anything there. Esp. if you bought your own unlocked phone, it might be empty or have incorrect settings. AT&T settings for various networks (LTE, 3G, ...) can be found on the internet (google something like "AT&T LTE APN") or support can tell you if you want to know for sure.

Have you tried sending a MMS? If the MMS works then your data connection to AT&T is working as MMS uses the data network for sending / receiving the attachments. If it does work and you don't get any errors go into Settings-->Connections-->More Networks-->Mobile Networks and make sure the Mobile data box is checked. If it's not checked then that is your issue. If it IS checked then I would say give AT&T a call to see if they can see you hitting the network.
