Blackberry released its promised "monthly" security and features update on December 1. The rest of the planet has it, except for AT&T. One of the main reasons I bought the Priv was for security and these updates. What a problem if you have an AT&T branded model. What say you, AT&T?

well its a carrier branded phone and updates are not as prompt as buying the phone unlocked. ATT does not give software update schedules but just look at the nexus 6 still no marshmallow it was released in october.
I'm just wondering why you are not releasing the update from blackberry, even though mulitple carriers already have? Why punish your loyal customers?
It's tragic that multiple carriers around the world have released this update and att is sitting on their ar$e. Makes me want to spend $40, unlock my phone, get another carrier's sim...just for updates.
Its an android phone with ATT bloatware on it. which means its on ATT's update schedule. Which ATT does not give out.
The rom on the phone is ATT specific. To give you an idea the nexus 6 is still waiting on marshmallow that was released Oct 6th

Big surprise... updates are rolling out today for the AT&T Priv.
Posted this in the other thread asking the same question, but the updates are rolling out today.
Kind of a shock that AT&T only waited about a week this time instead of the usual 3 months (or simply sit on it and wait for Marshmallow).
Right now, AT&T is working hard to make Marshmallow available for as many Android devices as possible. I’m also awaiting the update for my device. We want to make sure our customers have the greatest possible experience with the update in regards to their device and our network. This is why we conduct extensive tests on all OS updates to ensure a level of quality that you’ve come to know and expect.
As a rule, we generally do not post information on device updates until the day of release and are unable to forecast availability of any OS update. With that said, we are currently working on making our process and information more available as we know our customers are very eager to get their hands on the latest updates.
Rest assured when available, you will receive an over the air notification on your device with step-by-step instructions to update your software.
Thank you for forming part of the AT&T family!

The primary selling points behind the Priv, aside from the physical keyboard, are the promise of increased security and privacy. Android 6.0.1 offers significant enhancements in both areas; to delay its release or hinder its deployment through sim requirements is completely and totally unnacceptable.Until these policies are changed I will do everything in my power as an information security professional to dissuade my employers, clients, colleagues, friends, and family from purchasing their phones through you or, indeed, using your services.
I know you are not responsible for these decisions, Tim; that you are merely the unfortunate soul sent out to face us wolves, but this is a subject your employer needs to take seriously and address with more than a standardized non-statement.
Can you please advise you loyal Blackberry Priv Users when you will be releasing the Marshmallow Update. I was on the phone with The Blackberry Corp. Office they said they released all up dates to the Manufactures the first week of this month. We all been waiting for this update to happen. I got the software patch this morning hoping that it would be the Marshmallow update. Please Advise use when you will be releasing the update. Thanks for your time
How can we improve?
