Is there an AT&T Service outage I am unaware of?

I lost connection around 1am. In the South Seattle area in Washington state, anyone else having an issue?

My phone was apart of the so called outage on Thursday. Then on Friday I became a victim of a cyber attack. My SIM card was hacked and I was locked out of my phone. Everything associated with my phone was hacked. My bank account, credit cards, PayPal, Cashapp, and a purchase was made by using a loan through affirm in my name. I am apparently not the only person as I am seeing this all over since this so called outage. It is your duty to protect your customers. You should have told the world there was a cyber attack and warned us so that we could protect ourselves against cyber crimes against us. I have cricket wireless but ATT owns cricket. Therefore it is your duty to inform the entire world about such crimes. If we knew the truth and were warned, we could have changed passwords and took precautions. Now I’m stuck trying to take my life back from whomever was able to gain access and destroy my financial life. Then you have the nerve to offer a $5 credit to only ATT customers. What about the customers with Cricket and TMobile that also put money into your company? What is a $5 credit when someone was able to hack into our phones and lock us out while stealing and purchasing thousands of dollars worth of our hard earned money?????

Do you have the slightest shred of proof that the outage was a cyber attack at all, much less one that targeted you specifically?  Seems like tin foil hat stuff.  Someone already had probably stolen your info before all this happened and just happen to choose the day after the outage to do the deed.  Regardless, AT&T has made their statement about the cause and what they plan to do to compensate people.  Believe it or don’t.  It doesn’t really change anything.

@KThorne86  Highly unlikely. There are lots of ways your information could have been compromised. It it was, you should do this:

1. File a police report for identity theft.

2. File a fraud report with AT&T.

3. Notify your credit card companies.

4. Change all of your passwords on ALL of your accounts using strong passwords which are different from each other.

5. Dispute any charges that you don't recognize.

6. Start monitoring all of your accounts on a weekly basis for any suspicious activity.

7. Change your email to a new account and provider. Gmail is ok but I'd look for a separate email service for at least your important accounts.

Do this now and don't expect AT&T to take care of it because technically, it's your problem not theirs. There is no way of knowing for sure how your information was picked up but rest assured your "packet" has been sold on the dark web to scammer/spammers/phishers.

Just because you don’t know how to use it, doesn’t mean you’ve been hacked.

And you are absolutely responsible for your own security - not AT&T.

@JasonWrongman  Just because I don’t know how to use what???? What are you even saying? Do you even know what you’re talking about??? Make that make sense for me please! My SIM card was hacked and proven so by ATT reps! My phone was basically cloned and gave access to every account I have. So what are you talking about if I was hacked???? I am not blaming ATT for the hack but not informing the public that the outage was part of a global cyber attack. This information coming from ATT employees that I know. The public should be made aware of what has really happened! I sat in the phone company as several others had the same exact issue. I was not a single target but apart of a large group of people across the US that had the same exact thing happen to them.

@ottopylot I have most definitely taken care of it on my end! Police and the department of homeland security have been in touch with me and are investigating! It’s not ATTs fault but their duty to speak in what really took place and warn their customers to take precautions due to their personal files being hacked.

My internet has been down for 2 days without an explanation.  I would like a time frame as to when it will be on

You got no explanation at all when you called AT&T? Did they troubleshoot?

This is a public forum of other customers. We can help guide some basic troubleshooting but we have no access to your equipment or account. Also if there is an outage in the area any time frame customer support might get on a fix is only an estimate.

No explanation from Customer Support.  When they did troubleshoot they told me my internet was down.

Thanks for responding

All I am asking for is a time frame for repair.

Thanks

@becky1841

There is no time frame to give. Any outages exist until they are fixed. Customer support might have an estimate listed by techs working on the issue, but that is subject to change as many things can affect a repair.

By customer support saying your internet is down, I take it they confirmed a known outage. If so then you could call again later and see if there is an update providing an estimated time frame. But nobody can give a guaranteed answer on how long the repair will take.

Phone still work for voice?  Data still work?  If so, not an outage.

I'm not being technical here. My verbiage may be incorrect but there is a problem. Multimedia messages are not sending. Phone will make calls but I can't read or send multimedia messages.

Hello @Naomi Lyle,

We hear you, and we would like to provide all the help you need to send/receive the multimedia messages.

Reset your network settings to refresh your connection. Resetting the network restores the default settings on the device. Be aware,

  • iPhone: Settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings
  • Android: Settings>General Management>Reset>Reset network settings

Also, we'd like to gather a few details to help us provide further solution:

  • Are there any error messages?
  • Are you having trouble sending/receiving MMS text to specific number or are all numbers affected

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

I’m near Yosemite and we definitely had an outage last night. We were stationary and three separate devices went to sos/satellite mode.

The internet has been down since 5/18/24 near zip 75232 Dallas due to “fiber equipment.”  Today is Monday 5/20/24 and there is still no internet.  The resolution date changes from several times a day in an unending loop of it never resolving.  There is no more information even if you call customer service and there is no phone number for corporate .  Many customers work from home and are impacted.  There should be more technical information given even if customers have to google it so that they know more and can plan .  Also are there business internet products that are more stable and reliable?  Walmart is a few blocks away and they are not impacted.  What options do customers have when they rely on internet to work.  Is there anyone at ATT who has more information.
