How to force LTE only connection, not 5G
My Franklin 50 connects to 5G (only 1 bar) and the connection is very weak. If I connect to LTE, I get full bars. I followed instruction here, which I was told would force only LTE connection. (https://www.att.com/device-support/article/wireless/000092019/Franklin/FranklinRG2102 )
I welcome suggestions

Good afternoon @drosica , its vital to us that your hotspot connection is optimal and I am here to help!
Following the instructions in the link would not be advised as the device is already set to prefer LTE. @OttoPylot 's suggestion of a third party app may be helpful.
You may also check out our coverage map to learn more about the 5G coverage in your area.
Check out this video to view steps on power cycling the device. This is known to help with many device concerns.

I'm not sure I understand. If you can't get LTE, how do you know you get full bars on LTE versus 5G.
My only experience is on a phone, but anytime I try to force it on LTE when 5G is weak, turns out the LTE is just as bad. Regardless of signal strength. If the signal from the tower is bad, it doesn't matter which network type it's using.

There is an app I understand for Android devices that allows you to choose between LTE and 5G. Google it.

@OttoPylot
I think the OP has a standalone hotspot device from AT&T.

I use a Franklin 50 as a mifi for connectivity on my rental property as no other service is available. When I do get a LTE signal, it's full bars and supports many devices, streaming tv as well as zoom sessions. If I get a 5G signal, it's weak and the result is a poor connection. I even set the device to prefer LTE. Bottom line, I want the device to reject 5G

Hi there, drosica. Let's help you find a way for your AT&T Franklin A50 to remain connected to LTE only.
Since you've already set the device to prefer LTE connection, you may have the best results restarting your device or even moving it to another location in your home.
To view instructions on how to restart your device, visit AT&T Device Support. After selecting your device's make and model choose Troubleshooting followed by Reset Device and follow the steps that are provided.
Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums.

After following the reset, do you recommend following the instructions given to me from AT&T?
