How to file a complaint about Sales Person lying about shipping date

Hello I called in and spent almost 2 hours on the phone ordering a mifi, was told repeatedly that they would ship it priority and I would have it by May 27; as I needed it for an upcoming trip. If that sales person had been honest I would have had it shipped to a different address. The next day I get an email confirming that sale and says it wont even ship until June 8-15, this is after my departure date. I use the chat feature to see what is going on and to change the shipping address to ensure I have it where I need it. This person tells me they can not change the shipping address! they would need to cancel the order but the new shipping date would be June25-30, which is after I needed the device and also AFTER I leave that location. She transfers me to a "manager" who basically take 3-5 minutes to respond each time and doesn't offer any solutions at all. I have been a customer for over 10 years and have never had a worse experience. I was lied to by ATT sales person causing so much stress and frustration, and if the MiFi ships on time then I now have to $50 to get it FedEx to the location I need it at and hope that it makes it.

I would like to file a complaint but can not figure out who to email or mail it to.

There is no formal complaint system or an email address. If you wish to file a complaint, file an FCC or BBB complaint. The complaint will result in someone from corporate contacting you. Not sure why you assume you were lied to. It’s quite possible, even probable the agent told you exactly what the system showed.

ok thank you. If someone guarantees it will arrive by a certain date then it should, the system should show accurate information and if it doesn't then the representative should say that. If she had, I could have given a different shipping address. So I guess you could say it was a lie of omission but in reality it is a situation caused by the inexperience of the customer service representative.

Hello swrlygrl, this is not the experience that we want you to have. We can get your feedback to the appropriate department for review.

Here are some of the reasons that your shipping order date may have been delayed.

  • We didn’t receive the required down payment for your order.
  • Not enough funds on account
  • There was either a system issue that prevented us from completing your order online or you initiated a request to cancel the order. In instances like this, you can reorder your device
  • Out of stock – you may need to reorder later
  • Customer from another carrier? We are waiting for the number transfer
  • Your address could not be verified
  • A pending balance on your account – it will need to be paid off before an order can be submitted
  • You are not eligible for an upgrade
  • Your account may have an expired card
  • Sometimes we have to be contacted to verify your order – we may need to verify your identity
  • We are reviewing your order for security purposes – your account security is important to us

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, and thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

With a chip shortage, data-only devices are not shipping in a timely manner.  This means that carriers like AT&T don't have these devices to send to you.

Most of the time phones do ship quickly, they are given priority.
