How do I remove the app icons on the home screen of a ATT Cingular Flip 4 phone?

There are 4 app icons on the home screen; Store, Assistant, Maps and YouTube.  How do I remove them from the home screen?

Thanks for reaching out @alpha0172!

Allow us to provide the answers!

The home screen apps on the AT&T Cingular Flip 4 such as: Store, Assistant, Google Maps and YouTube are pre-installed, and may not have the option to be removed. However, certain apps that are download from the Kaistore can.

You can review the Cingular Flip 4 User Manual for more information and details.

We hope this helps, and enjoy the rest of your day!

I don't need the apps uninstalled, just off the home screen.  This is for my 93 year old dad, who presses the buttons accidentally.

Thanks for the reply @alpha0172!

We understand how important it is to manage/change device settings to make it simple and convenient for our loved ones.

Please know that the Cingular Flip 4 does not have the option to re-arrange mobile apps on the home screen as other smartphones such as: Apple or Samsung.

The Cingular Flip 4 User Guide will provide more steps on how to configure your device settings and other features.

Stay Safe, and have a nice day!

This is a REALLY ANNOYING feature. They're not even active buttons. Just decorative icons. Next software update should REMOVE these icons.

Also - the message compose DEFAULTS to "predictive". This is horrible and should be changed. The type selection should not change from the user's preference every time Message is selected.

Please suggest these changes for next software update of the Cingular 4 Flip!

Follow-up to my above post. I found there is a way to disable PREDICTIVE. Under Settings / Personalization / Input you can click off Word Suggestions and Predictive.

BUT BUT BUT I've discovered another truly annoying feature of this phone. You CANNOT turn off alert sounds for incoming and outgoing messages and emails. You can only turn the volume down. Of course, this turns off the phone ringer as well. So if you want the phone to ring, then you have to accept constant alert sounds every time you receive or send a message or email.

I wish the AT&T folks who monitor these forums would pass this along to KAOS or whomever produces the software. They should produce an update that fixes this alert sound so that it NONE can be selected (there actually is a NONE selection for "Alerts" but it means nothing as the default sounds still occur regardless).

I replaced my previous Cingular Flip because it did not allow group messages or group message replies. Being part of a weekly poker game that is a major pain. The Cingular IV Flip allows groups but the alert sounds are a disaster.

Finally, on the Cingular IV. If you want to import contacts from a vcf file, it has to be done from a memory card that you must install. And be aware - you cannot use a memory card larger than 32GB.

Actually, to disable notice alert sounds go to settings, permissions or privacy, app permissions I think then select the app(s) you don’t want to get notice alerts for.

Does Not solve the problem of the stupid phone not accepting/using the notice alert you specify however, continues using the hard set default tone regardless of what you select. Sounds like a ms windows error prompt tone.

Sorry, had to review the manual as I’ve already given the flip 4 back to mom, defeated.

To disable the alert tone for notices, go to settings—>personalization—>notices—>app notices. Go into Messages, Email, etc to turn off the alert on an app by app basis.

Very top of page 57 of the manual...

I am going to second the previous message.  I would like to give this phone to my 82 year old father.  He ONLY wants to MAKE AND RECEIVE PHONE CALLS.

Glad I'm not the only one annoyed by those stupid icons on the Cingular Flip IV...There needs to be a "update" to give you the option of removing these icons, or just a update that removes them period...It's not like they are actually  functional...You can't push one and it do something...

That's not true.  You press left on the dpad and then you can scroll through those icons and select them.

you can't touch the icons on the screen and expect them to go to that app like on a smart phone...they are just there for looks...to get to the actual app, you have to push the arrow keys

Just received my replacement Cing Flip IV.  I just spent an HOUR on the phone with a Tech Specialist that didn't know that those icons couldn't be removed OR moved. Another wasted hour on top of an earlier 1:15 call to transfer Contacts and Photos via Bluetooth only to determine they had to be moved one at a time for 200. Select All is allowed but nonfunctional. Photos a max of 10 at a time.

am having a challenge in text messaging - seems all msgs stay on a conversation thread - would like to have the option to see msgs  received - msgs sent -  msgs in draft - but can't seem to find a way to do.    Also - can't seem to figure out how to SEND a GROUP text -   I made a group  - tried to add it to a text message - but when hit SEND - it only sent to the top name - can anyone help me set this up correctly  on this new Flip IV   - would so greatly appreciate - Jenn

I wish a tone would sound every 5 min or so when you haven't read a text or listened to a voicemail. I keep checking the phone to see if I have a text which is annoying.

Also received this Cingular Flip IV for my elderly mom.  I called att and had the best customer service person disable all the features I didn’t want her to accidentally use such as data, international call, text etc.   The customer service rep disabled all these things and now it only has incoming and outgoing calls.  I could not remove the apps either but when I press them they do not  do anything.
