Hotspot - amount of allowed devices?

My AT&T Mobile Hotspot MiFi Liberate says I have the maximum number of  devices connected (14). This hot-spot is my only way to connect to the internet. I have no cable or DSL available in my area. Can I set this device to allow for more devices? I have security cameras I need to connect! TY.

I do not know if you can increase that number, my guess is no. However, you could use a WiFi extender as any of those 14 devices and increase the total number of devices by connecting to that wifi extender.

TY for your suggestion. Is the wifi extender something that I can attach to my mobile hotspot? (I did just end a chat session with technical support from AT&T. They said the maximum number of connected devices is set/limited by the maker of the hotspot).

Yes. You would connect a WiFi extender the same way you would connect any other device. Once connected, then you connect other devices to the WiFi extender.

Hi nittfan63, we are here to answer your inquiry regarding adding more devices to your MiFi mobile hotspot!

To change the maximum number of Wi-Fi devices that can connect to the MiFi hotspot (the default is set to 15), navigate to Settings>Wi-Fi> Limit connected devices to the dropdown menu. This instructions can be found on page 29 on the AT&T MiFi 8000 manual

You may be unable to use the Wi-Fi extender on your mobile hotspot as the device uses the cellular towers. We do recommend purchasing another mobile hotspot device to connect to your security cameras.

Let us know if this helped!

Not sure that a wifi extender would work with my hot-spot, since - as Rhonda stated, the hotspot uses cellular towers and is not an actual wired wifi service.

Also,  Rhonda, the instructions you included for the mobile hotspot is not for the hotspot model that I own. I own an Netgear ATT-WIFI-7527, not a MIFI 8000. So the referenced instructions do not match with the device I have.

Thank you for the update @nittfan63.

At the moment there is no possiblity to increase maximum number of devices for Mobile hotspot. Our recommendation is to remove a device that is currently not in use to make room for additional connections.

There is also the option mentioned above to purchase a additional Mobile hotspot to raise the limit on connected devices in your home.

For additional information for your Netgear ATT-WIFI-7527 and how to manage your connected devices. You can view a list of devices that are connected to your mobile router.

1. From a computer that is connected to your network, launch a web browser.
2. Enter http://attwifimanager or http

A login page displays.
3. Enter the administrator login password.
