Has service to flip phones ended?

I just paid the monthly bill online and the LG phone I bought years ago from AT&T does not work. Don't know when it stopped working. It's a backup device and worked well where signal was a problem. Verizon ends flip phone service 12/31/22.

No.  Flip phone service is not ending.

But your old flip may be 3g, and you need to replace it with an LTE model.

Go to an AT&T store and buy one.

Hello @Ice Princess, we'd be glad to provide you with more information regarding our 3G sunset and ending of some flip phone services.

Please be advised, we phased out of our 3G network by February 2022 to make room for newer technologies that will improve your experience.

We'd recommend for you to review our 3G Sunset Forums article, that provides more information on why 3G/4G phones are no longer working with AT&T services. To confirm if your device is eligible for service, and listed on our approved network list:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap About Phone to view the model name and number.

For other models:

  1. Remove the back cover.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Look for the model number on the inside of the phone, usually on a white label.

We hope this information helped and answered your concerns.

Thanks for reaching out to the AT&T Community for help.
