False information by At&t Representative in live chat.

I have purchased an iPhone 11 pro from 3rd party person in Facebook Market on March 21st, 2020 which is locked to the At&t network.

Before my purchase, I have reached out to At&t customer support via live chat app and have provided them the IMEI number of that phone to verify it is good to buy and if I can use under the At&t network. The At&t representative confirmed it is good to buy and use it without any problem (I have all proofs).

By trusting the At&t representative statement I have purchased that iPhone by spending almost $600 form 3rd party person.

After a few hours, with my friend suggested I have verified the same IMEI on the 3rd party website it’s shows Blacklisted I got scared and gave a call to At&t customer support (611). This time At&t representative said it is blacklisted on SEP 2019.

I have questioned them why the live chat representative provided the wrong information to me. There is no proper response to my question and they blamed me like I made a mistake buying device from an unknown person.

My only question to At&t authorities is why did the Live chat support representative provide me false information? Is this how customer service is provided to loyal customers who are with AT&T for a long time? We believe in you (AT&T) so we double-check before we make purchases and this incident has dropped expectations on AT&T. Due to this false info, I have purchased the phone and lost almost $600. What should I do now and how At&t will resolve my problem.

It would be very helpful if someone can investigate this and provide me an alternative for the loss. I am more than happy to provide all the proofs I have from the live chat.

At&t please help me here, I spent all my savings on this phone.

This is the chat Reference Number: (edited per community guidelines) you can find IMEI details in that.

at&t will not, does not, and is not taking part in ’gray market’ sales.

You need to do your own due diligence.

Facebook has no recourse if the phone is blaćklisted AFTER you buy it. You took your chances with a risky purchase.

Ebay and swappa give buyers recourse.

As per the conversation with the 2nd AT&T representative the device is blacklisted before purchase only. I have mention dates go through it again.
