cell signal booster

Does anyone have experience with a signal booster that does not require you to have internet? I have poor connectivity and am using an AWI device and it often connects at less than 5 Mbps for download

See my Cellular Booster Guide (not to be confused with the AT&T Cell Booster), link is in my sig line. It's a good primer on what cellular boosters can and can not do, how they are installed, etc. You do need at least one, and preferably two bars of cellular signal strength for them to work well.

Cellular Boosters do not require and internet connection. The AT&T Cell Booster does, and is not a cellular booster but a femtocell.

That sounds like AT&T. Clueless for sure. I told AT&T way back when that the new name was very misleading but…….

Would be surprised that if most of Support can explain the difference between a femtocell and a cellular booster, let alone what the Cell Booster is.

I don’t know what the return window is for the Cell Booster but if AT&T gives you grief I would file a complaint with the BBB.

Thanks @OttoPylot  -- the guide shows a last update of 2018 -- has anything changed?

The guide is a bit dated but the basic information is still applicable and the mfrs listed are still around. You can install them yourselves but figuring out signal strength, direction, bands, etc can be a bit daunting. Depending on which towers are local to you it might be a consideration to look into what it would cost to have it professionally installed. It's still a good place to start and who to contact.

I've been meaning to update the Guide but the CEO of one of the companies I was working with has moved on so my contact in that industry is gone.

WEll I need to return it as it will not work for what I need and I have spent over two hours on the phone today, plus driven to a store who said they could not help bc they are only an authorized retailer and there are no corporate stores near me.  So maybe you can help.

@nwineland  So, did you purchase a Cell Booster? As mentioned, the Cell Booster ONLY works with a wired internet connection. At least reliably.

Contact the mfrs listed in my Cellular Booster Tech Guide or visit their websites.

Yes -- AT&T pushed that as a solution before I made my earlier post and I have been trying for the last couple of weeks to figure out how to return it and having no luck.  When they said it was the solution, they called it a signal booster so that was misleading. super frustrating as I expect better tech no how and better service.
