Can you use At&t prepaid sim card in a At&t finaced phone?
Gifting a new iPhone XS to my Dad but he uses AT&T prepaid and doesn’t want to be under my plan and service on AT&T post paid. Can he take his prepaid AT&T sim card out of his iPhone SE and put it in the iPhone XS finaced under my account to use it without any issues?

Yes, it is that simple. Just switch the SIM card. As you note, you must continue to pay for it and keep the line open to keep the installment plan open (if you cancel the line, you will be billed the balance due) but there is no requirement to actually use that phone on your account.

@Jstamp282018 Yes, not a problem. Quite a few individuals on prepaid use other phones not designated as prepaid.

Even if its financed under me and my account??? obviously Id be making payments on it. Is there any process or is it as simple as popping in his pre-paid AT&T sim from his other phone?
