ATT Sim and straight talk non activated phone combat ability
I currently use AT&t service on a regular / business plan not prepaid. Therefore I have an AT&t phone which needs replaced immediately, somebody bought me a new phone but it is from straight talk with no service plan at all therefore has not been activated. I called straight talk and they told me without paying for 12 months of service I will not be able to use the phone on another Network / have the phone unlocked. I thought there was a way to use AT&t SIM cards for a straight talk phone. She was told at Walmart when she bought it but I could use the phone on my AT&t plan and it's too late to return it. Were we giving that information from straight talk or from the sales people at walmart? Is there a way I can use this new straight talk phone and my existing normal AT&t SIM card?

No, there is no way to use your new phone with your existing ATT SIM card. The phone must be unlocked to use with your ATT SIM card and as you’ve already been informed, Straight Talk requires 12 months paid service to unlock.

Straight talk used to offer SIM cards from all three major networks. So you could move your AT&T phone to straight talk and use an AT&T SIM card from straight talk and the phone would work, even if still carrier locked.
The reverse has never been true. For example on a locked AT&T phone will work on Cricket but a locked Cricket phone will not work on AT&T or any other network.
Straight talk no longer has alternate SIM cards It is a Verizon MVNO
