AT&T iPhone not getting texts from Verizon Android users
Good evening, we switched as a family to AT&T on 2/9 from Spectrum. The process was 6 hours long in all to be able to use our phones. By the next day at 6 p.m., not even 24 hours later, we were no longer getting ANY text messages from Verizon Android users, we can receive a picture but not worded text messages. This makes absolutely no sense. There is an unknown number of people in our immediate contacts that are Android Verizon users that we can not communicate with, primarily employers and coworkers. We’ve tried all the resets and tricks. Any suggestions? I simply refuse to change any of our phone numbers, switch service providers etc after our business was solicited and we switched. This isn’t an uncommon issue from everything I’ve seen online and no one local at our AT&T stores have a clue what to do.

We understand the impact of not being able to receive text messages. Let's meet in a Direct Message on this. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).
Looking forward to speaking with you.

I spent about an hour on the phone this morning with a customer service rep that was super friendly and tried to assist but with no results. I have an escalated case ticket 251513825 in house now.

Seems to be a known issue with Verizon to AT&T customers receiving text (SMS/MMS) messages. Talked to port support and this has been known since at least middle of last week. No notices or solution has been sent to customers or found online.

This is something that comes up every now and again and goes back years. Sometimes when a number is ported it takes a while for the change to propagate through every server involved in making the decision about which system to use when sending messages. Some machine somewhere still thinks your number is with Spectrum and is routing those messages to an electronic equivalent of a black hole :(

Update to close this loop, after a 2nd phone call to AT&T (no response to the escalated ticket by the way ) I was lucky to get a technician that did some research to see that our numbers weren’t fully provisioned over from the previous carrier so the servers weren’t communicating fully. After sending reactivation signals to each phone again and restarting, we’re now able to get messages from Verizon Android users. Not sure why this wasn’t addressed initially other than maybe it’s not common enough for all agents and technicians to be versed on the subject but I got extremely lucky and am grateful for the tech I had today Aleisia (sp.?)

Glad to hear you got that resolved in a reasonably speedy fashion!
