Asus Zenfone 9 Compatibility on AT&T
Is the Asus Zenfone 9 compatible with AT&T?
It's not in the list of compatible devices, but it's very new.
On Asus's Amazon page, it says it's AT&T band compatible, but I'm not sure if AT&T allows that device or not.
Are there any missing bands it should have for good compatibility?
What can I expect? 5G? LTE? Or nothing?
Thanks

Check the imei. Unless/until it says yes, you can't use it.

Hi there @CoffeeBurrito, we're here to help with your device compatibility concerns.
It doesn't look like the Asus Zenfone 9 is compatible with AT&T services. Please check our compatibility listing for devices that do work. You may also check our process for starting service with a device brought from elsewhere here.
Let us know how this helps.

Any plans for it to be added to the list eventually, ex. after the official US release of the phone next month? Or will ATT likely not whitelist this phone?

I can't check the imei. I haven't bought the phone yet. I want to know if it's compatible first.

Then no.
Not till it's listed as being tested and approved. Even then, errors have been made

We completely understand you wanting to have your Asus Zenfone 9 to work on our network, @CoffeeBurrito.
Special thanks to our ACEs, @formerlyknownas and @Constructive for their expertise. As previously mentioned, it appears that this device is not compatible with our network. It's also not on our list of compatible unlocked devices as well. The device won't be compatible until it's certified to register to our network.
Your best bet would be to purchase a new device from us directly. You can use this resource to view our phones that will work on our network. If you scroll up, you can review our wireless deals and plans that we offer.
Please let us know if you need further assistance. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

I've bee with att 20 years and I'm sick of being forced to use a device that I don't prefer that's full of bloatware. I can't do it again, there's is NO reason to do this other than greed.

@STEVEJUSTSTEVE
Before you protest, you might want to know what you're taking about.
Since March of 2020 AT&T has published a list of non carrier, unlocked phones that will work on their Network. The list of phones includes acceptable model numbers in the left hand column. And in the right column it includes the services that are compatible and will work on AT&T. Those Services include things like 5G and Wi-Fi calling.
You can access the PDF of the list through this link
Service capabilities of unlocked phones that will work on AT&T now that 3G is shut off
It is an FCC requirement that all phones be able to make a 911 phone call. Phones that are not capable of voice over lte, cannot be used as a phone on any us Network. Since 3G has been shut off, this excludes phones that have typically dropped back to 3G for voice calls. It was the responsibility of each manufacturer to submit phones for testing to see if they did work with voice calls over the LTE network. Many major manufacturers were interested and did submit phones. Some manufacturers do not do enough business in the United States to be bothered testing. Therefore those phones cannot be guaranteed to work, and many of them do not.
