Asurion is sending me a check to replace my broken tablet. Do i have to buy the same tablet again?

Hey all!
so recently my Tablet (Galaxy Tab E) took a bad fall and my screen got destroyed. i called Asurion and filed a claim. i was told they're not able to to send me a replacement device and gave me the option of either entering a waiting list or getting a check and buying another device. i opted for the check. My question is, do i need to buy the same device again? or can i purchase a different tablet for the same price? also since the tablet that broke was apart of my family plan (it had a number, data, service,etc) would i have to the bring both new and old tablet to an att store? how would that work out? i'd just like to know what to do/ expect before the check arrives.

Allow us to lend a helping hand. When activating your new device you will need to get a new SIM card. Follow the link provided for more information. You can purchase a SIM card online or get one from your local AT&T store.

My Phone cracked and I have insurance on it. So I called AT&T Asurion. They explained to me that they didn't have any glas in stocks so they would send me a check. I just received the check. My question is how do I send back the damage phone in? Can we also deposit the check and use that to do a normal down-payment on a phone since I was paying the phone monthly?

If the phone you broke is not payed off you should use the check to pay it off then you can get a new phone. You are only allowed one next plan at a time on each line
