I bought a new sim card to open an account, but all i have is the new sim card. I lost the activation instructions

It's easy to activate your new phone or replacement device on the AT&T network. Please follow our Activation link. You will enter your SIM card ID and the device IMEI and continue. Follow the prompts and power cycle the device (turn it off then on again) and you will be good to go!

I have a new Sims card for an old phone
I've attempted your instructions many times, it just doesn't work, it won't accept any of the numbers I put in and yes I know which numbers to use. On the official at&t website they accepted my numbers, I pressed continue and then they next sent me a message stating they were unable to complete my activation and cancelled me out. I am a senior and dirt poor, so don't know much about cell phones, sim cards, etc. I bought a new nokia phone, bought an at&t new prepaid sim card and at&t prepaid minutes, I've had this 10 days and nothing I do to get this phone working works - I'm about to pull my hair out! You say it's easy, well it's not! I don't have a car or a working phone, the one I have now completely drops calls left and right. That's why I bought this new one, but so far all it's given me is grief!
