AC815S No USB Tethering Icon in Settings

I have one of the newer AT&T/Netgear AC815S rugged hotspots, and recently had a need to use the hotspot  with USB tethered connection.  However while trying to follow the tutorial online, I notice that I don't have the Tether icon on my settings page.  I've had our company IT people look at it, and they just tell me the device must not support tethering.  I took it to a local AT&T store, and they said that there looks to be 2 different versions in their system.  The regular AC815S and the rugged version AC815S.  But they said they both have the same part number.  They thought maybe it was a feature that was to be added, but hasn't been yet.  I'm looking for anyone with knowledge and/or has a WORKING USB tether connection on a AC815S.  Exact model number is AC815ABS-1A1NAS (AirCard 815S).

Any ideas?

Hello @euphos,

The hotspot is a great piece of equipment which helps you connect to the Internet wherever and whenever you’d like! I’m sorry to hear you’re having some trouble getting your hotspot tethered to your computer or other device. I would be more than happy to look into this for you!

I located the user manual for the AT&T Unite Explore AC815S and I am seeing there should be a port along the bottom of the device to enable USB tethering. It also includes instructions on how to enable tethering on the device.

If you’re not seeing the option available through the device’s settings, I would recommend a master reset to see if a software update is required. Netgear’s website also has more information regarding the hotspot and the option to contact for support.

Hope this helps! Take care, and have a wonderful day!
