Will I owe money or just not get my device?

Today I applied for an iPhone 11 Pro Max.  AT&T made me pay 208.89 for the phone, but said they couldn’t run my credit at the time but will contact me if they run into a snag. My question is has anybody gone through something similar and what happened? Will I get the phone and owe like 500 on my first bill or will I need to pay upfront? I’m just worried because I did pay 208.89 for a phone and that’s without a credit check. On one hand I want the phone but on the other I don’t want to be told I owe more money on top of what I paid. I understand those were taxes and fees but I feel like if I entered my credit information shouldn’t it be ran in 30-60 seconds? I’m not trying to be a baby I’m just thinking I might have gotten a good deal on a phone and it seems too good to be true... I’m a broke college student so if I have 500 laying around unfortunately that has to go to school books and not fancy awesome phones. Also I did apply online and the phone is being shipped to me if everything actually works out...

That seems awful high. The only thing you should pay up front is sales tax on the phone. There are no fees to pay. You must have a very high sales tax. Anyway, once they run your credit, they may require an additional down payment on the phone.

Hi @bnlasher93,

Thank you for reaching out. We'd love to provide some answers.

Concerning your order for iPhone 11 Pro Max, we believe your order already wen through with or without the credit check if you have been charged for the taxes and your order has been shipped. There is also supposed to be a notification detailing your charges.

If you see anything unexpected in your upcoming bill, please do not hesitate to reach out to us for further assistance.

Hope you enjoy your new devices.
