My AT&T log in troubles

I recently bought a new cell phone. I changed from prepay account to a plan. I am trying to log in to myATT but it is not recognizing my email address (even though ATT sent me an email yesterday about my purchase) or my phone number (it has not changed in 6 years or more) . I have a few questions:

1. Can I find my "Account number" on my receipt from the purchase of new phone? and if so where?

2. Do I need to "create a new account" on MyATT because I changed from prepay to a plan? and if so how do I do this if my email and phone number is not showing up and I have no idea what my account number is because it is not clearly marked on my receipt.

3. Is there another way to create an account or find my account? I have entered my email, my cell number and my date of birth

You need to create an access id. You then link your account to the access id using your wireless phone number. Instructions here: https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1008917?gsi=pglcem

Seems to me when I got a new account (going to postpaid would count as new account), I couldn't log in the first few days (week?).

I think I had to call for the account number, but I see the new form gives an option.

The lady that took my information typed in an incorrect address for my billing address, She actually put in an address for ATT in Texas! I am in Georgia! I used that zip code when asked. Then I found my account number on my receipt for phone at the bottom under "Contract number"

UGH... finally got access to account. Now need to correct the billing address and anything alse they have wrong!

Thanks for yalls help!

Well I am all confirmed and ready to receive my first "Larger than normal bill" but when trying to update to the correct snail mail billing address (the one the ATT employee entered incorrectly) I got the "You cannot update your billing address until after 30 days" automated message. It did allowe me to update my "usage address", the address where I will be using the phone (which is also my correct billing address & the address that is on my ID that she used to set up account) It did let me confirm my email address for paperless billing, BUT it said I would receive my first bill in the mail and then the paperless billing will begin on the second billing period. It is not updated yet as to what my first bill will include and what the total will be or when it will be due. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is updated on the MyATT page where I can log on every day, so as not to miss a payment day. It looked like (from what I could tell) that I have only 2 days before it will be due. The lady (who got my info wrong) said it would be next month when I get my first bill. I feel I should go to the store and tell them of the huge mistake they made, but have a fear that if I do something else will go wrong and make things worse. I will be calling into corporate (the one I bought phone at is independent) or visiting in person to file a complaint...or at least get on the record that I am here and will be keeping up with payments as agreed despite the hurdles they make me jump over.

I am really not looking forward to 30 months of this! It is all coming back to me as to why I went to pre pay last time. I read the complaints on this forum and worry that I may be "ripped off" as many have stated here... trying to keep a positive mindset... its not proving easy.

Sooooo... keep your fingers crossed for me and I will do the same for all of yall  🙂

PEACE

Kim
