Why is AT&T's Cell Service so TERRIBLE?!?!

Ever since I upgraded to the iPhone XS Max and they started with the new 5G service I have TERRIBLE service at work... and we have an AT&T tower ON THE BUILDING!!! I want to throw my phone every single day! It switches back and forth sporadically from 4g lte to 5ge...its making my brain hurt and making me crazy! And when I connect to our WiFi it kicks me off every 2-5 minutes or so without notice (log in is supposed to last 24 hrs per our IT). My phone spends the entire day here searching....and draining my battery!

Biggest issue is my personal emails won't download while the WiFi is on, and I can not do ANYTHING else without the WiFi...send/receive texts, accept a call, check my apps, or literally anything else you'd need Data/WiFi for.

The main reasons I switched to AT&T was for the Union Discount (which I just lost because I switched plans apparently) and service! I did not think I would have service issues while I was at work all day, not with a tower here. I have a severely disabled son and 3 other sons as well - I NEED to be able to have necessary contact with my family at all times!

Yes I have spoken with AT&T and Apple both...and of course they point their fingers at each other...smh.

My oldest son and my husband both have Sprint...guess I'll be switching if this does not resolve STAT!

Your in a catch 22 if the tower is on the roof that is not going to do you much good since the signal is going to go out not down. I would suggest turning off LTE and using only 4g.

Thanks, I didn’t realize that about the tower. Turning off the LTE seems to work, thank you so much, I’ve been pulling my hair out, why is that?

Did your previous phone work well at your work? Also, how do you know the tower on your building is AT&T?

Yes, I believe my iPhone 8 Plus did work, but if I remember correctly it started messing up just months before I got my new phone.

And I know about the tower because we own the building and my IT Dept. told me. 👍🏻😁

Have you tried going to your local at&t store and changing your SIM card???

@randomtacobelleater I have not. I read that and thought that would be my next step. But it looks like actually turning off the LTE works while I'm at work. I do need to turn it back on when I leave because if not the service is then terrible outside of work. I'm still not certain exactly what the exact problem is just yet though. 🤷‍♀️

Do you have a case on your phone? If so, remove it. Also disable WiFi calling and LTE. See if that makes any differences. Do one step at a time.
