Roaming in México for Firstnet plans?

Who is the roaming partner for customer in Mexico with the firstnet plans. From the looks it’s only AT&T Mexico and Movistar....

Hey there @Cogarcia21!

Let's see if we can't help identify the roaming partner. If there any questions regarding AT&T products or services you would like to know more about feel free to reply to this message and fill us in.

If you're currently out of the country and seek additional assistance, we advise that you contact AT&T International Service at +1.314.925.6925 (free from device) or simply chat with an agent.

We hope this info helps.

Hello,

Generally same roaming international coverage as any standard plan with the North America coverage. First Net is a first responder Network that’s enhanced for U.S. first responders. Roaming in Mexico details listed here: https://www.att.com/offers/international-plans/mexico-roaming.html

Do you know if FirstNet users can roam on Telcel while in Mexico as you can with a regular plan?  The FirstNet map seems to say no, while the response below says that the coverage should be the same as a regular plan.

The same question holds true for Canada—the regular plans can roam on Rogers, Bell, and Telus, while the FirstNet map only shows Rogers coverage.

Good evening @cm-1401, thank you for your commenting on our Community and Forums page.

As you may be aware roaming and international coverage can vary depending on the country you are visiting. Some great news is that we have a selection of international plans that you can use in Mexico. I recommend checking out our International Plans for Mexico support page to view what best fits for you. Our Unlimited Plans include: Unlimited talk, text and data in Mexico & Canada. (2G off net data speeds may apply.)

If you have any further issues or concerns with your Telcel services, please reach out to the provider for further assistance. If you are currently outside the U.S and need help with your AT&T services, you may contact our International Support Team at: +1.314.925.6925 (free from your AT&T wireless phone) or please visit our International Support Page.

Thank you for being a part of our AT&T Community.

I’m not sure you understand what we are saying.

We are having roaming issues in Mexico concerning the coverage. We seem not to be able to pick up Telcel. Telcel is largest cell provider in Mexico.

We just want confirmation while on a FirstNet plan and using the roaming coverage in Mexico, is their a roaming agreement with Telcel. If so, then we need to find out why it’s not working, while when on a normal consumer AT&T there is no issues.

This could be a negative for FirstNet for those customers who travel frequently in Mexico.

Agreed. This is about a difference in roaming agreements with FirstNet => Telcel and AT&T => Telcel.

The response from ATTHELP will not help with this situation.

Why would I want to pay for a roaming plan in Mexico when all your marketing says it’s included

The workaround is easy, just completed it for my trip next week, get an att sim, call Firstnet, tell them you are traveling, and they will swap it over, if the person says that’s not possible, tell them to phone a friend, I have done the swap a few times, I actually maintain my account on the esim

it’s only a small pain in the butt to work around the lack of Firstnet roaming agreement with Telcel

Pay no attention to ATTHelp, they obviously didn’t understand the question. They definitely didn’t answer it.
