Hello Blassel, We’ve phased out our 3G network starting February 22, 2022. We’re making make room for an even better network.

To bring you faster speeds and new features, we're excited to upgrade America’s best network. One change we’re making is shutting down our 3G network. It’s important to check the device model numbers to make sure it’s still supported since the 3G network shutdown. This includes iPads, tablets, and wearables.

Once you know your device still works, you may need to restart your device or check the VoLTE or LTE status.

Don’t see your phone make and model on the list? That means it may not work anymore. You may need to swap or upgrade to a new one.

Please reach back out if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you for visiting AT&T Community Forums!

Notify your provider roaming on at&t no longer viable.

Even compatible phones may not have voice over LTE with non att sim.

Use a virtual number

To ATT : thank you for your performantes answer but you didn't even read my question. VoLTE is activated and frequencies carried by my phone are compatible with ATT net work.

I have been to ATT store in Boylston Boston for no help, the manger thought I did by a foreign phone and a ATT plan then he realized it was a roaming problem and put me in the hands of a young attending who desperately tried to reach a technical support through an automatic switch board requiring ATT identification that I obviously don't have... Coolidge Corner shop has been much more helpful, trying my sim card in approved ATT phone with the same result.

Phone is not faulty but carriers are.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your response, @Blassel.

We do understand how important it is to stay connected. We want to make sure that your device is eligible to work on our network after the 3G Sunset. Can you please provide us with the make and model of your device? This will help us determine if your device is on the list of eligible devices that will work on our network

If you are experiencing the same result with a different device, we do suggest a SIM replacement. You may pick one up at your local AT&T Store

Let us know how this works for you. We look forward to your response.

If you read my first post my device is a One plus Nord AC 2003. If you read my last post the Coolidge corner shop has been kind enough to let me try my sim card in two ATT approved phones with no result still data available no voice. Problem is sitting between ATT and the french carrier (Free). Is ATT able to provide me with a working sim card ?

We have seen where users of  Airtel (India provider) and Globe (Philippine provider) had to have their SIM cards replaced to connect to AT&T network.

VoLTE is activated

Doesn't matter if the 'switch' is on, it's not VoLTE capable, it's not on the compatible list of VoLTE devices.  If it was VoLTE capable, it would work.  It's not, and doesn't.

and frequencies carried by my phone are compatible with ATT net work.

And you have data and text... But it's still not VoLTE capable or it would work with voice calls.   It no longer matter if the phone has compatible bands, it must have VoLTE capability for AT&T.

I have been to ATT store in Boylston Boston for no help,

Nothing they can do other than sell you an AT&T phone and service.  They cannot make it work, it's technically not possible

the manger thought I did by buy a foreign phone and a ATT plan then he realized it was a roaming problem and put me in the hands of a young attending who desperately tried to reach a technical support through an automatic switch board requiring ATT identification that I obviously don't have..

ATTHelp is being polite, and is providing correct info within the scope of their job.

You want it fixed, and it can't be.

Not with that phone on at&t.

As in my first response, use a virtual number for calls.  If text and data work, great, inform your contacts you can text, no calls.

I'm surmised you didn't get a message instructing you to that as soon as you connected to AT&T.

Hello, @Blassel! We understand how frustrating it can be not making or receiving calls. We want to provide more information on that!

You can try a replacement AT&T SIM card, however, the One Plus Nord AC 2003 is not on the list of the devices approved for the AT&T network. We cannot guarantee service on a device not approved for the AT&T network.

You can also try to program the device APN settings:

  • Tap your Settings menu.
  • Choose either Wireless & Networks, More Networks, or Connections.
  • Tap Mobile Networks, then Access Point Names.
  • Find and select the option to add a new APN. You may find a plus (+) symbol on the screen, or tap the menu button.
  • Program each field using the settings found in the table.
  • Save your changes to return to the APN's menu and choose the new APN.

Please let us know if this works for you or if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

Thank you for your answer.

I found that APN editor, nothing is set excepted MCC and MNC.

Can you clarify what are settings in the table ?

Looking for the answer.

Hello, @Blassel! We can help guide you in the right direction!

The device APN settings gives you the information of what should be entered in each table. The main thing is to ensure you have entered the correct information in the APN setting, which should be NXTGENPHONE.

If you need further instructions on how to reset the APN settings please refer to the device manufacturer.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

🤦🏼‍♀️

Please ignore the information in the last 2 posts from ATT help. They went from giving factual and truthful information to giving you information which is not going to be any help whatsoever.

APN settings are to connect you with AT&T data Network. You indicate you already have a connection because your data and text work. There is nothing that APN settings can do to give you voice calls.

Please download something like Google Voice which will assign you a phone number. That phone number is a virtual number you can use for calls and text over data.

Installing an AT&T SIM card would get service immediately suspended.   So you would be even in a worse position than you are now roaming with a foreign SIM card.

The change of APN settings didn't solve anything as expected.

From contact by a friend with the french carrier it appears that the problem last from days (weeks ?) between the two carriers.

No solution expected soon said by the french side.

More information on this side of the ocean ?

Any way , Rachel thks for your help.
