Poor cellular network signal in Longmont and Boulder

I have been an ATT customer for 8 years now and will finally be switching.

The service around Longmont, Boulder, Frederick, and Firestone is terrible.  I am in the cities and towns and only get 1-2 bars.  At my home, I have 1-3 bars.  Dropped calls, robotic voices, and choppy voice service are constant occurrences.

I really don't care about fast speeds.  The speeds are slow.  The cellular coverage for voice phone calls is simply too poor.

I have attempted Wifi Calling with no luck.  When I call 611, the technicians are surprised by the poor tower performance in the area, but they offer no solutions or remedies.

With my wife and 4 kids on ATT, I simply cannot recommend it for anyone that is in the northern Colorado area.

You need to change the wording in your subject line, it’s not poor WiFi network coverage, it’s poor cellular networkcoverage. Unfortunately, ATT does not have good coverage in Colorado.

Hello Oredigger, we're here to help you with poor cellular network signal in Longmont and Boulder.

We understand the impact of low signals. Many things can affect your wireless signal, some will surprise you! Learn about what can affect your wireless signal, and what you can do to improve it.

Signal Loss - Is It Us or Something Else?

Environmental Factors - Dead Zones

At my sister’s house, there is one spot where I never get calls or text. If I move 5 feet away from that spot, boom, everything works. Sound familiar? This is known as a dead-zone and caused by the environment of your surroundings. Unfortunately dead-zones, in homes or offices, are beyond AT&T's control.

Unfortunately these things do not help as I and my family have tried everything but signal quality is poor all around Longmont, Boulder, Frederick, and Firestone.

The problem is that there are many dead-zones that are several blocks wide and long in the cities.

Hi , we are here to take a look at your poor cellular signal!

We understand the importance of having crystal clear calls. First, we recommend checking what type of wireless coverage you have in your area. Also, reinsert your SIM Card to reset your device.

Other troubleshooting steps that may help are:

  1. Make sure your software’s up to date: Go to att.com/softwareupdates.
  2. Turn off call forwarding, do not disturb and airplane mode when not needed as these settings are known to interfere with wireless calls. Swipe down your notification bar to access these settings or use our device support tool>calling & contacts for steps on how to toggle the settings off/on.
  3. You may also need to change your SIM Card at our nearest AT&T Store if you have had it for a long time.
  4. Check for any outages in your area to see if there are any AT&T service outages near you.

If this does not help, let us know the make and model of the devices affected and your area Zip Code so we can continue troubleshooting.

Keep us updated! Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums!

We have iPhone 12 and 13.  All are up to date.

I do not have call forwarding, DnD or airplane mode enabled.

There are no outages in our area.

Zip is 80504.

Thanks for responding @Oredigger.

Since the towers in your area look fine, we'd suggest going to a store to get new SIM cards to see if the reception concerns persist.

Please let us know if that works for you; if not, we can take a closer look into this for you and create a technical case if necessary.

AT&T is getting worst in Longmont. most of time now I lose signal on 119 towards Walmart and 2 days back do not had signals on ken Pratt 119 and hover near Target. AT&T has sales office, they do not have any signal as soon as you leave the office.

and call AT&T is like talking to wall. they say we do not have any outage or signal issue.

I’m here in the Longmont/Boulder area for training, and the ATT cell signal in this area is TERRIBLE.

I have a nearly new iPhone 14 Pro, no SIM card.

if I lived here, I’d switch to Verizon or whoever…

I have switched out SIMs 1 month ago and the service is still extremely poor all around town.

There are only a few spots where I can get more than 2 bars.

This is not about network speed.  I am not watching movies.

I want to be able to call, text, and bring up a simple web page or use maps.

It feels like I am using a dial up modem all over again with lots of disconnects.
