"No service" at home and "wifi calling" stops working too
I have very weak ATT (1 bar) signal at home. So, I did turn on the "wifi calling" feature in my phone (iPhone 7). However, there are times when even the "1 bar" signal disappears and phone shows t "no service" message. In that situation, the phone calls just drop and I am unable to make any call, even though "wifi calling" is on, until "1 bar" comes back. So, it appears to me that even for "wifi calling" feature to work, the cellphone needs some minimum connectivity to phone towers.
So, is there any solution in such scenarios other than changing provider? I spoke to ATT customer service once and they told me that they have stopped giving out microcell.

I also have a problem with my cellphone not getting the wi fi service. Recently the AT&T logo keep interrupting and cutting off my calls. Then I found out that I have been using my data instead of my wi fi even when I am at home.
I checked wi fi connection. Nothing is showing. So, I called their customer service. She can't do anything too. She said that I will need to reset my phone and if this doesn't work, I need to get a new phone.
I have the feeling that they just want new contract and for us to buy new phones.
I am changing my provider. This could be an attempt to let us buys new phones and get stuck with their service. Just like what Iphone did slowing down their phone for you to buy their new release phones.

If your router has a DTIM setting, then set it to 3.

I was having the same issue. Although with my wife’s phone. We bought a place in the mountains where AT&T has “no service”. So I turned on WiFi calling and everything was fine....with my phone. In the upper left corner it showed “AT&T Wi-Fi”. Along with the WiFi fan symbol. But my wife’s showed “No Service” with the WiFi fan symbol. And she wasn’t able to place or receive calls.
After a litte searching I found an article that stated to got to Settings...General....Network Settings...and reset Network Settings. After doing this all is good. Her phone now shows the same as mine. And her phone is making and receiving calls perfectly!
Hope this helps someone in the future. 😊

I am experiencing this problem now as well. I've tried everything in this thread to resolve it "including I even put my sim card in my last phone which I still have, an S8+ (currently getting this on my note 😎 and got the exact same issue with that phone. Previously never had any problems, then a few days ago wifi calling just stopped working. I get "Out of service area" when trying to use it when I have no bars and wifi calling turned on.
I'm pretty confident that this is an issue on ATT's end which they're not aware of. I spent hours on the phone with them and they couldn't figure it out either. My wife has an iphone X and her wifi calling works fine. It's also on my account just not an android. I am thinking it's specific to the phone number where ATT just stops working for some internal reason for some length of time.
I wish we could get a resolution for this because I'm missing a lot of calls because of it.

I tried everything I found online to fix this issue as both my wife and I intermittently have this “no service” issue. Finally, I just restarted my router (unplugged, waited :30 sec, replugged). This worked - but at this point, I don’t know if that’s the real issue or if it just happened to start working again.
VERY frustrating issue. Thank you all for chiming in - I don’t feel so alone in this! LOL.

FYI. This is still an issue. So unless you are absolutely certain you have strong ATT coverage in your area, DO NOT GET ATT SERVICE!!!!
I have spend literally days on the phone with them and with chat support and gotten new SIM cards. I have filed multiple claims against the company and still they are unable to get wifi calling to work.
Their fallback is that 'my wifi must be slow'. I have ATT internet service (because it is the only available provider at my home) so the speeds have been tested by ATT and myself and they are more than 10x higher than the required amounts for wifi calling.
We also have ZERO issues with google calling, skype, whatsapp etc. so the issue is obviously ATT. They just don't care. They buy up all the other companies then end services.
