No 4G-LTE service

Hello,

I have a Verizon HTC One (M8) Windows Phone using a Consumer Cell simm card.  CC btw: uses AT&T.  All services work - voice, text -2g - 3g but except no 4G  LTE.   Looking at a web page that lists who uses what,  ATT is listed as using the lower half of 700mhz while Verizon uses the upper half.  Hardware wise there is no electronic differences between the Verison, ATT or any one else.  What is needed is a software upgrade.  Is there a way to get the software updated to enable 4G on ATT?  If the phone was Android based I wouldn't be here asking, but since it's Windows based the process may not be possible.  I spoke with tier 1 support and they seem to think that all I'd need to do is swap simm cards with a ATT proper simm card the the phone will automatically download and install what ever firmware or updates are needed.

Can one one validate this? Thanks

Hi there @toddbailey

I’m afraid we would be unable to assist with flashing an AT&T software update to a Verizon model device. I would recommend speaking with Consumer Cellular or HTC at 866-449-8358 to determine if this is something they will be able to do for you.

I hope this helps!

I've taken this route with no success, HTC tells me to talk to CC or ATT,  CC tells me to talk to HTC or ATT.   and now ATT tells me to talk to HTC or CC.

It's a vicious circle that no one what to take owner ship of.

you cant just flash ATT software to a verizon phone well you could if the phone has a unlocked bootloader is s off and rooted but still does not mater.  Because yes there are hardware differences in the phones hince they have a different model number for a reason.  The verizon m8 does not have the bands in the phone for LTE on ATT.  You may not even live in a band 4 market.  Here in my 35 mile commute I see band 4,5, and 17 LTE bands.

Hello,  I spoke directly to HTC.  They and other sources tell the HTC One M8 series is electronically identical, the only difference is the software versions installed.

From my minimal understanding of how markets function,  it doesn't make much sense to mass produce unique models for android, windowsthen one for Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, the remaining carriers and a generic "unlocked" version.  However what you say could be true,  but I am inclided to believe that 1 device was produced then custom programmed for the desired market.

In any event,  I plan to persue installing an unlocked the boot loader, turning off signature lock and what ever else is needed in order to convert to an open device.  Meanwhile I can get by with 3G only service since if necessary I can always use the tablet for 4g service where 3g is not available
