New Cell Phone Tower
I live in a community of several hundred families who do not have more than 1 bar. Most have no bars as we are just beyone the coverage of our nearest tower. We also have limited high speed internet possibilities. I have to drive 1 mile up the road to make a call! How do we go about getting ATT to install or lease a tower in our area? Thanks

Several hundred....in what square mileage of an area? Population density matters.

We do understand that population density matters. Verizon has been telling us for several years that they are "planning to put up a tower" - they even got the permit from the county - but they have "budget problems" and have just this week asked for a 1 year extension on the permit.
The area is the town of Reedville, Va. 22539. It has 2 medium sized restaurants, a museum with over 1000 paid members, and over 10,000 visitors a year, a large fish processing factory employing 250 workers, 4 marinas with a total of 300 slips, and a variety of smaller service businesses. The town also has a number of B&B's. The town has everything but cell phone service, and all those businesses have to make do without (and make excuses to their customers about it)
16 years ago, Verizon removed all the pay phones from our town, and one of their corporate vice presidents promised that cell phone service would make up for it. Our EMS crews still have to find a land line to call in health issues when they pick up heart attacks in this area of the county. The 1000 people who attend our annual Oyster Roast stand in line actually talking to each other because their cell phones don't work (maybe that's not so bad).
At any rate, we're looking for some other way of doing this. Does ATT have it?
