My coverage is suddenly awful at work

I work at Marshall Space Flight Center on Redstone Arsenal (Huntsville, Alabama). It started mid-week last week (~5.15.19). Can someone help me explain why?

Hello @kdfreeman42

We're sorry to hear that you are having trouble connecting to  the cellular network. Allow us to be of assistance!

After further researching with the information you provided, there are no reports of service interruptions in the Huntsville area.

Are you able to receive phone calls/texts outside of work, at home, or in a public setting? Have you checked for available software updates for your cellphone? What device are you currently using?

We recommend utilizing our AT&T Device Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool by selecting the the cellphone you have, and then click onto a specific device issue for additional troubleshooting steps.

Also, you can help report any service hiccups or interruptions by downloading the AT&T Mark the Spot App in the future.

We hope this is helpful, and thanks for reaching out to the AT&T Community!

In addition use the AT&T Mark the spot app.  I've used it when I have the same issue. This way you don't have to make the phone call. They do actually use it to improve service, and it can diagnose a technical issue.  You can download the app on your app store or Google play. It is an official AT&T app.

I am also having this issue and I too work on Redstone Arsenal.  This began for me around the same time the original poster mentions, and it is still an issue today (June 11, 2019).  I have contacted customer service twice (last time today) about this issue and I still not have access.  Details below.

When I do not have access to the internet, I am on LTE and I have "full bars" on my phone.  When I'm on LTE and the bars are at half strength or lower, I can use the internet for a brief moment before the bars go back to full strength and I lose internet.  I do not regain internet again until I drive off Redstone Arsenal.

Customer Service had me reset my network settings, turn off LTE and turn it back on again (4G gave me an error message stating I did not have a data plan...), I have turned off and reset my phone, I have given my address to Customer Service and been assured twice that the towers will be fixed.  I even got a new phone in the middle of all this, and I am still having this problem.

I'm sure it goes without saying, but this issue needs to be fixed ASAP.  I am paying for a service I cannot use for the majority of my day.  So either AT&T works something out where I'm refunded for the time I can't use my phone at work, or this issue gets fixed. I, like everyone else, need to be able to hear from or contact my family in an emergency, and right now I can only make phone calls rather than text which is not why I have a smart phone.

I work right outside the arsenal on the west side and when I'm at UAH the coverage is awful. I can't even use my phone for internet. And everyone at work is complaining about their coverage too so I know it just isn't me.

I recently switched from Verizon to AT&T to save money.  Not sure it was worth it.  I always had service on Redstone Arsenal with Verizon but rarely have any service with AT&T.  Guess we all need to think about switching to Verizon since AT&T doesn't seem to have an answer to providing service here.

I recently switched service provider from Verizon to AT&T to save money.  I always had great service with Verizon but rarely have any service with AT&T while on Redstone Arsenal.  Guess it was a bad idea to switch since now I'm paying for service but can't use it.  Maybe we should all consider switching to Verizon since AT&T doesn't seem to have any answers to providing service in this area.

What is awful is that AT&T just raised my bill $10 since my plan no longer exists. This coupled with the coverage lately has me looking elsewhere.

Still no fix on this issue huh? I just switched from Sprint to AT&T and yes Sprint did work somewhat on base so I ASSUMED AT&T would since they are the "better" service but that is not that case. I currently cannot get service until I leave base. I also live in Hazel Green and the service is complete garbage up there. Hopefully they fix this issue or I will be contacting Verizon as the majority of my co-workers switched to Verizon and have service on Redstone.

I also work on Redstone Arsenal and the coverage has been terrible for at least the last 4 years. I have to use a co-workers phone as a hotspot when I need to send a text message. REDICULOUS!!! Of course they do not have AT&T and think I am crazy for not cancelling. I can only text after 4:30 PM after most of the employees leave Redstone. My signal is good and the cell tower is not far away. The problem must be that AT&T is too cheap to add more resources to the cell tower so that it can handle the load when everyone is here working. I know they will not fix it. I can't image how many AT&T customers deal with this on Redstone. It happens on the entire base.

Redstone Arsenal coverage is still awful. Has the AT&T coverage gotten better from any of you.
