Lose cell service when Cable is out

I have tv/internet through Comcast, and whenever my cable goes out, I also lose all cell service.  How are the two related, and why?  And do I need to switch to another cell provider to avoid this from happening?  Beyond frustrated at this point.

Thank you for reaching out @rkostes.

That's quite the coincidence! We'd be happy with helping you pinpoint the coverage in your area.

  • What is your zip code?
  • Are you currently experiencing any connection loss? If so, please change to your specific device and check out our Troubleshoot & Resolve tool.

If there is ever a loss of service in your area, we urge you to report it to our Mark The Spot App, so we'll be able to keep up with areas that need improvement!

A cable outage should have no impact on your mobile data connectivity.  WiFi yes, mobile data no.

Losing service when your internet goes out probably means you are using WiFi calling and don’t have a strong enough cellular signal in your home to switch back to cellular. Otherwise, as noted, the two would be unrelated.

Try turning off WiFi on your phone and see if it still works.
