Horrible 5G Network

I thought 5G was supposed to be the best speeds out there.  It's horrible.  I'm at work 8 hours of the day and I can't listen to music, go on apps or even log it for chat tech support because I can't log in.  The signal is non existent here. Why am I paying for signal that doesn't work.  How do we fix this issue? My work doesn't allow us to use their Wifi.  I'm new to AT&T from Tmobile was looking for a better deal but I might switch back if this isn't fixed.  Not satisfied at all.

That's not the experience we want you to have with your 5G service, eklipse114. Let's try to figure this out together.

You can troubleshoot your device to see if that will change your service experience.

Since you mentioned not being able to log in to chat with tech support, we want to provide the tech support option for you.

Also, what is your ZIP code? We want to use it to check for anything going on with the towers in your area.

Please let us know this information and let us know how those other options work, so we can continue assisting you with this.

5G is still spotty in a lot of areas and some of those areas that do have 5G, tower capacity quickly reaches maximum so speeds slow down. I don't bother with it in our area and just leave our phones on LTE and all is fine.

My zip code is 91710. I would appreciate any help with this.

And to reply to Ottopylot, I've tried that but the previous phone (Google pixel 7 pro) and this one (Samsung s22) don't have that option.  It's like they only want us on their horrific 5G and give us no alternative. Not sure if there are any other options

There is an app that you can download for your Android device that will allow it. We use iPhones so there is no problem natively using LTE or switching between LTE and 5G. It's not AT&T forcing anything, it's the options in your phone's OS.

Thank you OttoPylot, I'll have to look it up. I didn't know that.

Pleased checking data use protection mode on and roaming as well. This both features can give you an impression of slow 5G data speed connection transmission but instead is avoiding you billing overcharging by using third networks out of local coverage. My Guess

I am about ready to leave this network.  Despite every support member being nice and helpful, it's just not acceptable that I'm getting charged for something that doesn't work.  I have not been able to use my phone at all today.  I completely regret leaving my previous provider.  And I turned in my old phone for a trade in, horrible mistake.

@eklipse114  Did you find the Android app that allows you to switch bands?
