Fusion 5G International Roaming

Hello, I am currently traveling in Japan with my ATT Fusion 5G and Galaxy A51.  I have ATT service back in the USA. I bought International Day Pass for both phones.  The Galaxy is working fine and I can do everything like I am in the USA.  The ATT phone cannot call or text but can work on wifi for internet.   I have spoken and/or chatted with 6+ ATT tech support people for over about 8+ hours and they cannot fix my issue.  We went through all settings, rebooted, changed or confirmed settings, etc. International Roaming is on, but it still will not work.  Do you have any true solutions?  Thank you very much.

I believe the problem is the fusion 5G may not be a world phone. It has limited connectivity, and was designed for North America.

You might get some connectivity by resetting the network settings. Keep in mind this erases any stored Wi-Fi passwords.

The international number for postpaid travelers

This number is a free call from your AT&T phone

@DbMaj I give you an answer on another post. I researched the radio bands that Japan uses against the radio bands that your Fusion 5G has and the Fusion 5G does not have the required bands. As @formerlyknownas said the Fusion is not a world phone. You can only use Wi-Fi in japan with this phone.

I was hoping to hear back from ATT at some point but I haven't.  They know I have an ATT phone and they set up international roaming on one of their own phones that apparently is not able to be used in Japan.  I spoke many times to tech support with no resolution and they maintained the phone could be used in Japan.  I have been back in the US for a few weeks and called tech support for somebody to call me but they still haven't even after being told I would receive a call the evening that I last spoke to customer service.  Totally useless tech support at ATT.  So stupid that they don't know the capabilities of their own products.  Very disappointing!

(sigh)

You could have Googled this info in 2 minutes, as I did.    The Fusion is not a world phone.  It's North America only.  Which means the phone would not be able to connect and you would not be charged for roaming.

No, the CSRs cannot look up the specifications for phones for you and look up the connectivity requirements of Japanese networks like I did to provide you with the information below.  They do not have general browser access.  It was on you to travel with a compatible phone.

.... Anyway....

This is info on Japanese network connectivity.

3g,  bands 1 and 19

LTE,  bands 1,3,19, 21

Japanese LTE, 3g bands

The Fusion 5g specs...
