Converting to esim is something you can do right from your phone but I suspect you need to be in the US connected to ATT’s network to do it. I could be wrong but personally, I would not attempt that from abroad. In any event, if you want to take the chance, go to settings/cellular. You’ll find convert to esim there.

I kind of have the same suspicion I think that you need to be connected to AT&T to activate the esim, even if the line is already existing line.  Unfortunately the best way of doing this is doing it before you left the country so that you could use a physical SIM from a different provider. You may be able to use an esim with a different provider.

Hi~ I have a related question. If I have converted to eSIM in the US, can I still use the eSIM with International Day Pass or Passport abroad?

@alanlamsiu Yes. Once you convert to esim, the esim works the same as the physical sim.
