Cellular Towers In Surrounding Counties But Not In Mine

Hey all, according to cellmapper.net and some other research, my county has refused to zone for a cellular tower from either AT&T or other carriers (primarily concerned with AT&T).

All the cellular towers from AT&T are surrounding my county but a single one from a competitor which is inactive at this time. I sent an e-mail to my county seat regarding the situation but I'd like to ask AT&T's side on the subject. This also includes the subject of DSL, though that mostly has to do with the power company and not the county approving for an upgrade.

Specifically I'm talking of the state of Indiana in Fountain County.

As a general question, what sort of reasons would a county refuse for zoning or service upgrading even if the towers reach the whole county, but not a single one was constructed within the county itself? It seems odd.

Search for concerns of health impacts from 5G....

Government officials decide what they feel is best for the local citizens, if do not like their decisions, vote them out at next election.

According to the telecommunications act of 1997, such an act prohibits local jurisdictions from denying an application to construct a cell tower on the basis of health concerns or strictly being "unhealthy".

Would there be any other reasons to refuse if this were the case?

That would be a question for your municipality. If they won’t allow the zoning no carrier can do anything about it

someone has to lease them the space for said tower then there has to be fiber for the tower to connect to.  It just may cost the carriers to much and there is not enough ROI to make it work.  A tower these days is 5-10 million dollars.

Then what about the case of ADSL2 being ran to rural areas, only providing 1.5mbps (in my case, less)? The surrounding towns get it yet outside of those towns, hardly gigabit?

@rudidavis

Be grateful you even have service being in the rural areas.  I happen to be rural but mediacom has gigabit internet.

Also there are 6 read that 6 ATT towers in your county.  Fountain County IN has 6 and the one in Covington is 5G as I drive thru there on the way to Indy all the time.

@GLIMMERMAN76 Wondering how you found the six towers.  I found the one nearby my house using cellmapper.net but does the absence of another on their map mean a) there is none or b) nobody has uploaded it to cellmapper? Thanks.

Cellmapper is a joke.  There are better websites that use FCC data.

@GLIMMERMAN76  Are you allowed to post the url here?  Thanks.

Also I’m using Opensignal app to point my external booster antenna. Good / bad / any recommendations?
